Why are you getting married away from where you live? Both Keith and I are from Mid-Michigan and that's where our family and majority of our friends are. We moved here after Keith's internship at the local university became a full-time position.

Why are you getting married away from where you live? - I am from New Orelans. My family is there. I have always wanted a very southern wedding. And now after Katrina, I want to help the city come back and the best way to do that is to support the local economy. (Plus, it isn't like Michigan is our home, we are just here temporarily for Dan's job. The minute they will transfer us back to Denver, we are GONE!

My daughter loves Florida so much, she wants to get married there. We are all from the UK and currently arranging everything by phone and e-mail.

She is getting married at the BahamaBay Resort on Lake Davenport, just outside Orlando.

The staff there are very helpful and the place itself looks beautiful.

She is getting married on the beach by the lake and we are all looking forward to it...

Sounds like a beautiful location for her wedding! What has been the hardest thing to plan so far?

for me, the hardest thing about planning abroad, is getting people to return phone calls and emails. i think the vendors really like to work with people that walk into the shops, they meet at the bridal shows, etc. and don't feel as comfortable with 100% communication across the wire.

i have run into this with almost every vendor- photographer, dj, flowers etc.

Basically the hardest part has been booking everything without seeing it first.

The staff at the hotel are really nice and helpful, but we have 4000 miles and a 5hr time zone between us.

Normal things like a cake and flowers aren't just a short drive, or a quick phone call away, but we're getting there.....

Why are you getting married away from where you live? We are getting married in Vegas because we were having issues with our original wedding location, FH's home state of California. Basically, what it boils down to, is that our family is spread out over 10 different states and we think its fair if everyone has to travel, including ourselves! Why are you getting married away from where you live? After watching Hell's Kitchen together we promised we would go to the restaurant together in Las Vegas, I want a private and personal wedding about us and God without worrying about everyone else, and one of my good friends who I haven't seen in ages lives in Nevada.

Why are you getting married away from where you live? Because FH and I are the only ones who live in Southern CA. We are both from the Bay Area and it makes more sense for us to travel rather than having all of our guests incur the cost of travelling. Plus that means I would've been planning this wedding on my own since my mom is in the Bay Area and I am a horrible party planner while she is a pro!

Why are you getting married away from where you live? A couple of reasons actually......First, I just started planning in January, and was quickly getting stressed. There was so much to do to plan, and things were quickly getting expensive. So, we decided to look around in Vegas..then decided to look in Orlando. Orlando is very special to us, b/c that is where we got engaged. Upon looking there we found a beautiful chapel. It was very well priced..and they take care of everything! It was MUCH cheaper and less time consuming and stressful to do it there. So a lot of stress off of us..plus who can resist getting married in the happiest city on earth! I never ever would have thought a destination wedding could be less stress than getting married in my hometown. Who knew!?:)

We're not sure yet. We're going out in April to check out a few places. Among the list are: Flamingo, Aladdin, Treasure Island and Tropicana ... I think. :) And anywhere else that strikes our fancy! :)

Why are you getting married away from where you live? Hubby is in the Air Force and we had to have a quicky wedding for me to go with him with plans to have a family ceremony to celebrate. We are having it by my parents house because it would likely be cheaper(we're using the church I grew up in) and most importantly my parents work in the same small office and would not be allowed to take time off at the same time, the only real other location would be near Indianapolis his family is from Cincinatti and Detroit and mine is from Indianapolis.

Why are you getting married away from where you live? I was watching a "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?" marathon on tv, and one of the weddings featured was located at the New Jersey Botanical Gardens, and inside Skyland's Manor on the ground. The minute I saw it I was completely in love, and though I've looked at probably hundreds of other locations, nothing has even come close to comparing. :love4:
