Okay, girls, I need your help brainstorming, please. :)

I just found out today that my youngest sister is getting married next year in September. They've just barely begun talking about any details, but she said that she will almost certainly do pink for the color, as it is her favorite. She'd also like to find some ways to tie in cow stuff because he is a dairy farmer. She doesn't have access to the internet, but I thought I'd try to see what I can find and send it to her.

Please share any ideas on how to pull this together. She said that she hadn't decided on a shade of pink, but I'm thinking a few different shades, with one dominant would be beautiful. I think she wants to go "light" on the cow stuff, but enough that it's tied in through out, at least at the reception. Ideas for favors, decorations (especially centerpieces), cakes, etc are all very appreciated.

The one thing that she has thought of so far is to use bells instead of glass clinking, and she wants to see if she can find miniature cow bells.

FYI: They will most likely be on a very tight budget and will probably self-cater. So, please help me find inexpensive, yet elegant ideas.

TIA! :D

Thanks, Trin. I love the cakes...not sure if there's anyway they could get something like that, but I think they're awesome.

I may be doing the invitations for them. I'm thinking it would be fun to do some kind of folded invite in pink with ribbon in the cow pattern. I found one place online that sells ribbon, but it's awfully expensive ($7.95/10yd roll). I'm wondering if it would work to do like white with black polkadots???

I don't really know just how heavy she wants to go on the cow side, but I kind of hope she decides to tie it in as a full-on accent. :)

I think it would look awesome as a full on accent:yes:

I think just white with black polka dots would work for the invites.

What about cow tales (http://www.bulkfoods.com/search_results.asp?txtsearchParamCat=43&txtsearchParamType=ALL&txtsearchParamMan=ALL&txtsearchParamVen=ALL&txtFromSearch=fromSearch&txtsearchParamTxt=2399) for favors? They are yummy, and cow-y!

You could also try to do little tiny cows hidden all in the wedding stuff like disney does with mickey's.

Maybe the guys could wear cow print ties/vests. But instead of it being white and black it could be pink and black or white and pink.

These are some great ideas, girls. :D

I LOVE that cake topper. That's definitely going in my little file of things to send to her to consider. :)

Unfortunately, I am pretty sure they won't be using linens (:(), so all the fun chair sashes/table coverings are out. My other sister used all disposable table covers, and I think she will as well. I wonder what it would look like to alternate a couple shades of pink for the guest tables and then tie in the cow print on the head table. :headscratch:

She could always do white table cloths for the guests, with a little barn or OHH!! I'll have to post my aunts wedding (she married a cowboy). But yeah. White for the guests, pink table cloth for head table and also on the head table take tulle in black and white and twist it together.

I don't have her pictures on this computer, but I'll update when I can get on the one downstairs :D

Found some pictures. Maybe not exact but enough for a idea to emerge.

They had this to take pictures, and those were her dads boots.

Centerpeice, they took a napkin, put a little hay barrel on it, with hay around it, and then a little 'fence' with horseshoes and the date/their names, with a candle inside.

 This brings up a good point - if she wants to be a little more subtle? why not make her wedding colors pink, black, and white??

Ohh..she could use Oreos as favors! Because they have "Oreo Cows". I love those kind of cows, not that I'm a cow lover (more chicken :giggle: )But anyway..Not sure if that's the 'technical' name, but it's what I call them.

Aramelle
08-27-2007, 10:29 PM
Thanks for the pictures/suggestions, girls. I think she's thinking a basic holstein pattern. She wants to do specifically cow-related stuff, not western/country in general.

I found a cute figurine on ebay that I might call her to see if she wants me to try bidding for her. Right now, it doesn't have any bids, and it's starting at only $1.99. I think it would be cute for a cake topper.

Has she chosen her dress or the venue yet? Both could influence colour choices. I like the idea of pink, black and white -- or pink, brown and white if they prefer Jersey cows over Holsteins :) -- but the shade of pink could really depend on the dress, so I wouldn't go nuts buying accessories until she's nailed that choice down.

That cow ornament -- a potential cake topper -- gave me the inspiration to look at bouquets like the one the cow bride has with daisies and wheat in it.

A hand-tied arm bouquet of daisies, roses, freesia and wheat... but not pink.

Gerbera daisies and roses both come in pink, so that could totally be workable....

How about galvanized (milk) buckets or milk bottles for holding floral centrepieces?

She hasn't gone dress shopping yet (they just set their date last week), but she did say that she's found one in a magazine that has pink trim that she really likes on the model. The venue is actually just a community center/gymnasium...the only place for such an event for several miles from the tiny town my family lives in.

Flowers will probably be roses, since those are her favorite. So, that aspect would be easy as far as the pinks.

I LOVE the idea of mile buckets or bottles for centerpieces!

Cute! Good idea if she doesn't want the cow part to be too over the top. Although I really like the pink, white and brown/black motif idea too.

These are cute elephants, but you can do the same thing using cows instead.
