Inviting Famous People [Archive]

We actually are inviting someone famous to our wedding - not sure that he'll be able to make it, but it would be nice :) Jer and he have been buddies for quite a few years now, so it would be nice to include him!

Also, we plan to send invites to a few other celebrities with the hopes of at least getting a reply :)

I would have to invite some wrestlers from WWE Triple H and Shawn Michaels(DX), John Cena, and Batista. Basketball stars A.I, Shaq, Dwayne Wade, LeBron James, Mike Bibby, and Jason Kidd. And Rappers 50 Cents and the G-Unit group, Dipset, Jay-Z, and T.I. Video vixens Kitoy, Buffie the Body, Melissa ford, Karrine Steffans, Stacey Dash, and LisaRaye.That is for Marc b/c he would flip if they didn't show up.

Now for myself all of Destiny's Child, Wendy Williams, Oprah, Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith, President Clinton and family, Nelson Mandela, P.Diddy, Keyshia Cole, Earth Wind and Fire, The Whispers, Angela Bassett, and Few more people.

I am inviting my cousin (music video director/producer) and his country singer wife.... not sure either one of them will come though.

I would also invite Kenny Chesney.... I am a huge fan of his!

I love all of your responses so far. If you haven't invited any of these people and would like to....why not?

We thought about inviting the cast of Seinfeld (since reference to that show happens almost daily). Also, we'd love to invite Trace Adkins and we'd humbly ask him to sing a song or two. We celebrated our engagement by going to a concert of his. I'm not a big country music fan, but his stuff....I like.

My first marriage, as small as it was, we said we should invite the cast of Gilligan's Island, since we were going to be "The Howells". We even got married on an island. There were more of them alive back then...sigh.

Well, one of our US Representatives lives in my hometown, and my mom taught with his wife....we invited them, and never got ANY response...I'm wondering if maybe their invite got lost in the mail:headscratch:

Yep, I'm probably the one who posted it. ;) I got that source. Hehe Lots of addresses take months for a response, because they're mainly used for autograph purposes. :)

Jer and I are actually creating a slightly smaller invitation for the celebrities (with the exception of the one that Jer is buddies with). Inside we are going to include a letter that explains how much they have influenced/helped us during our long-distance relationship :)

My step brother is an ex NFL player and he will be there (played for Washington Redskins and Miami Dolphins) so that kind of counts. I wanted to invite Jennifer Aniston... I should get on that if I really want to!!

I would love to invite Jake Delhomme and the rest of the Carolina Panthers football team. I have a bunch more, but Brent thinks I'll get carried away :heee:

I would love to invite Julia Stiles, Mark Mcgrath from sugar ray, Prince (the artist formally known as), fh would like to invite more country stars. I think having the guys from Old School would be fun. Neither one of us like sports so we don't have to worry about that. lol

Incidentally, if you are looking for something to be returned from your famous people...An autograph or other similar item...There a few things you can do to improve your chances. ;)

First, a one page letter. Why one page? Do you know how much mail these people get? Make it short, quick, and to the point. But polite, not demanding. Also, be sure to mention some of their work.

Second, include a SASE. Yeah, I know, wedding & all...You don't exactly have postage to spare, but it'll increase your chances.

One of the biggest things I can think of is tell them WHY you are inviting them to your wedding. Not just I like you. But...Kathy & I are inviting people specific to our relationship and LDer's can attest to this....You use anything you can to bridge the miles. We're inviting people who have helped bridge the miles. :)

He lives in an upscale neighborhood a sorority sister of mine lives in in San Antonio -- the Dominion. I also had another friend that lived there and her house had an elevator. It was insane -- I wish I had that kind of money!

I'd invite Audrey Hepburn if I could. She's an idol of mine, she did so much for people and was so gracious about everything. I wish I could be more like her. Now, not necessarily the divorce parts of her, but yeah.

I told FH about people doing this - he said if he were someone famous he would accept the invitation and bring his entire entourage, body guards, food tasters, you name it, and totally disrupt the event - as he snickered maliciously about the thought of it. Yep, he's can be a nasty little devil sometimes - but I love him. :)
