I didn't wan to work today so I did this

I’m calling Tony TJ in this because I’m typing it up for some friends as well and they know him as TJ. (Tony Junior)

My brother’s fiancé and TJs great uncle had our cameras for the ceremony/reception, so that’s all I have pictures for now, besides the rehearsal dinner & salon.

Friday:

We didn’t have too much to do but still managed to run around like crazy. I got up and went for a jog around the neighborhood with TJ and his cousin who was staying with us for the weekend. My car had to have the emissions test by Saturday so I went today. Then I took TJ’s cousin to the mall so she could get a new dress because the one she brought would be too cold for the cold front coming through. We went food shopping for Saturday (had to feed my bridesmaids!) and then got ready for the rehearsal.

The rehearsal went really well, a few latecomers but not a big deal. The two readers practiced where to stand but didn’t do their readings, and we didn’t practice our vows, which I liked. Better to keep it all a surprise.

We headed over to an Italian restaurant for dinner. My father-in-law had put together a photo collage of the two of us growing up and then together. Loved it, and I hope someone got a picture of it. Before food we wanted to do our toasts & gifts.

I was perfectly calm, but once I started talking to my girls, I lost it. Couldn’t even get through one sentence. So TJ did his and then I tried again. I cried a lot through it. I was pretty embarrassed but everyone said it just made it all the more heartfelt.

I guess I knew just what to say because everyone else cried too! I even got one of the groomsmen to tear up. The dinner was really good and everyone had a good time. After that we all went to my parents house for some dessert and to meet up with most of the out-of-towners. I got home around 11, but some stuff together for the next day, took a sleeping pill and went to bed.

Saturday:

I slept through the night! Thank god for sleeping pills. I woke up around 7:30 or so and went for a 2.25 mile jog around the neighborhood. For the first time, I actually jogged the entire 2.25 miles without having to stop and walk… even up hills! I’m guessing it was pure nerves/adrenaline. I picked a good time to go because it had rained all night and then shortly after I finished it started raining again. This was in the forecast but I didn’t realize it was going to rain so hard. I showered, got everything together and headed for my parents house. I started making breakfast when I got there and didn’t sit down until everyone was there. Moving kept me from thinking about the rain and the fact that my manicure was ruined. They did a horrible job and it was chipping really bad. Luckily one of my bridesmaids used to be a nail tech, and her mother owns the salon we were heading to, so she said she’d redo it when we got there. The rain stopped at 10am! No blue skies yet though. I was afraid Maneeley’s (the hall) would call and say we had to have it inside because the ground would be too soft, but they didn’t!

We left for the salon around 11:30 or so, and had to make a few stops along the way (I forgot my garters, Sam (bridesmaid) had to stop at a bank.) We got to the salon a couple minutes early and Missy(bridesmaid) worked on my nails right away. They turned out exactly like I wanted them to. It was just a french but hers was much softer looking than where I had gotten them done before. Oh! When we got there, there were flowers waiting for me. TJ sent me flowers!

The woman who did their make up took forever, so we left a little later than I wanted to, but weren’t running late.

We got back to my parents house and the photographer was there so we started getting ready. My Mom of course forgot how to tie the back of my dress so that was frustrating for a bit but then we figured it out. We went outside to take some pictures and the limo showed up. The driver was nuts and instead of braking easy slammed on his brakes a few times. He pulled in the driveway, and then complained about it… when I made sure to tell the company not to pull in (bad driveway). And he called the house complaining he couldn’t get a hold of me when he only tried my cell phone once and we were taking pictures. Definitely won’t go with that company again, but they were cheap and we have a story!

So we get to Maneeley’s and go into the bridal suite to wait! The person in charge of our wedding told me how nervous TJ was. She said she’s never seen him like this (we’ve met with her about 3 times). So we’re waiting & waiting for them to tell us it’s time for us. A little after 5:30 she comes back and tells us it’s time!

The building was a little far from the gazebo and I didn’t want us all to walk the entire way, so we had a huge SUV we piled in to, and my Dad drove us closer. He angled the car so no one could see us, and we got out and lined up behind it. My Dad had sunglasses on, so everyone loved how “Sopranos” it looked  I don’t have pictures of it, but hopefully someone sends me some soon.

I was taking deep breaths so I wouldn’t cry:

Our JP welcomed us and went right into the readings.

TJ’s Dad doing a reading (about 4 verses from the Bible):

Then my grandfather came forward to do his reading (in Hebrew, everyone had the English translation to follow along). He had a paper bag with him and told everyone how he was going to put on his yarmulke (head covering) and he pulls a red sox hat out of the bag  But then puts on his real one. He read the Seven Blessings and it was just beautiful.

Vows (when she told me to say “I take you, Anthony” I just had to say “I take you, TJ” I’ve NEVER called him Anthony… nobody does) :

Then we did pictures… it was so cold!! But we all braved through it. We went back into the bridal suite for a few minutes and then did introductions. We picked Ozzy’s “Crazy Train” for the parents/wedding party to be introduced to, because it’s a good song and also to surprise my Dad who is a huge metal fan. He LOVED it! We were introduced to the Indiana Jones theme song (TJ’s pick, of course).

Then the first dance to It’s Your Love:
http://www.dmsdesign.net/OurWedding/OurWedding-Images/87.jpg

We had toasts by Miranda & Phil and both were very touching. They both cried during them. I can’t wait to watch them again on the video.

We were served pretty quickly and ate a little fast so we could get to all our tables during dinner. We managed to get them all except one (but we went back later to them). I hated that we had to rush through the tables. But there was a good amount of people there and I know they all understood.

I was nervous for the father/daughter dance. I didn’t know how I would react or if it would be awkward to just stare at my Dad. But it was great! I didn’t cry, mostly because I wasn’t paying too much attention to the song. Dad and I were chatting a bit and then just smiling. We had practiced dancing, and did some kind of dance (he and my Mom took lessons) rather than just “swaying” and we did really good! I just know he looked awesome out there.

I knew TJ was going to smush it on my face, so why should he have all the fun? I did it to him too, only he opened his mouth so wide I practically sent the cake right down his throat

Our wedding party gave us a treat and dressed up to do the YMCA (someone has to send me pics of it!). It was HILARIOUS!! They were way into it.

The bouquet toss was fun. My friend Lindsey caught it but then TJs 13/14 year old cousin grabbed it out of her hands. Lovely. The DJ asked me how old she was because obviously they weren’t going to have someone put the garter on her. And then another one of TJs cousins caught the garter (which the DJ put on a football!). So what they did was have TJ dance with the girl and I danced with the guy. It’s too bad it didn’t work out how it was supposed to.

It was such a great night, we’ll never forget it. I loved that we were able to take it all in and enjoy it. I remember the ceremony perfectly and somehow managed not to cry. We had a blast on the dance floor and so did everyone else. The DJ told us it was probably the best wedding they had this year. Our DJ’s were awesome and they loved how energetic our crowd was.
