View Full Version : The long walk...
What song are you using for your walk down the aisle? Are you using a different song for the BM's?
Originally, I was going to use "Bless the Broken Road" for my walk and "Once Upon a Time - Storybook Love" for the girls. BUT... Dan requested that the music have no "messages" (meaning words, bah) so I had to nix Bless the Broken Road. :(
I am still going to use Storybook Love since I was planning on using the instrumental version anyway but I have to find a replacement for me. (or use it for me and find a replacement for them.)
So, I am hoping you ladies will give me some ideas.

I used Canon in D for all the moms, grandmothers and so on to be seated. Then I had Hero by Enrique Iglesias start and my Bms walked out then I did. Because the part I wanted to walk up to my DH was towards the end. It worked out great for us and it was very pretty. I knew the first time I heard that song that I was going to walk down the aisle to BJ with it.

The bridal party will be walking to Autumn (Allegro) - Vivaldi. I will be walking to Sleeping Beauty Waltz - Tchaikovsky. I wanted to change it to the last song on the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack, but Brent didn't think it was wedding appropriate :heee:

I think we're just going to use one song... A variation on Canon in D with Earth Angel.

OMG Kari... Bless the Broken Road is such a perfect song :bawling:
We hadn't thought much about music for anything yet...but with the effect that just thinking about this song has, I think it would be perfect (as long as I listened to it enough times beforehand that I don't bawl like this that day just over the song!)

Mine, have all been mentioned.....Canon in D; Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring (we had it sung though); and Trumpet Voluntary!

I'm thinking of using At Last, by Etta James. It would just be played by the violinist no vocals with it. But we'll have an old enough crowd they should recognize the song :)

My SIL used Pachelbel's Canon in D but their processional was "How Sweet It Is" by James Taylor. It was so cute!

I would loooove to have the maids and me walk to the acoustic version of "Bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve, but I don't think the Catholic church lets you walk to anything non-religious.
Both songs are going to be Alicia Keys off of her first album.
The BM will be walking down to "Never felt this way".
And for me I will be walking down to "Butterflyz"

The mothers and my MOH will walk to Air on the G string played by our organist. I'm walking to Farewell to Govan on the bagpipes.

So far I like the idea of Canon in D for everyone but me and then Martina McBride's "There You Are" for me. I'm not completely sold yet, though.
Love the idea for How Sweet It Is for the processional!

I am still thinking about this. I have a few choices. I have some instrumentals by Kelly Clarkson "A Moment like this" or "Breakaway" I have to find a instrumental of a Inxs song that I am looking for. I have listened to all the choices that you ladies are using....and they just don't do anything for me. I need something different.

Kari why don't you just edit out the word to broken road and still use it? I always hear the words even if they aren't being played!

Probably just the traditionally wedding march .. James doesn't want anything that someone has to clue a music system/etc to play (aka someone forgot to play or screw something up). He just wants us to use the church organist to play some various music before hand and our wedding march.

You may disregard my earlier answer, I've changed the song.:hehe:
I am now walking into, So This Is Love from Cinderella :sappy: (no vocals, played just by the violinist)
Obviously, you're already married now  but I walked down the aisle to The Nearness of You by Norah Jones.

We used Parry's "I Was Glad". It's for 8 part choir with 8 soloists and organ. It's like 8 minutes long, so it was for the bridesmaids and for my walk also (and then some standing around too ).

I used one song for everyone's processional. I didn't want a break in the music. It was a longer version of Canon in D and it worked out perfect. :)

The Verve's Bittersweet Symphony- the instrumental bit at the beginning. I haven't decided yet if the bridesmaids will walk to the beginning and then I'll come in at that really swelling part where the drum kicks in, or if I'll have them walk to something else and build suspense for the 45 seconds before the drum kicks in and then walk. Exciting!!

I ended up walking to "Beautiful Day" by U2. I had it planned that I was going to use "A Moment Like This" by Kelly Clarkson, which was instrumental/Kareokee, but somehow it never made it onto my burnt disc...so the next song was by U2, and truthfully I think it worked out well.

I walked down the aisle to "You're beautiful" By James Blunt (Without the words!) And our bridal party walked to Little Wing by Stevie Ray Vaughn
I cannot BELIEVE that I never posted what I finally decided on!!
I won the battle. I walked to Bless the Broken Road BUT, I chose a bluegrass instrumental version. You can check out a clip of it here (http://www.amazon.com/Pickin-Rascal-Flatts-Fast-Cars/dp/B000AMU184/ref=pd_bxgy_m_img_b/104-6377676-8528727). I was very, very happy with the choice!!

Bless the Broken Road is such a beautiful song, I'm glad you got to walk to some version of it Kari!!
I walked to India Arie's The Truth
My sister who was my MOH and only attendant walked to a very shortened version of Moonlight Sonota

ETA: Nevermind, after actually READING a little more, I found out it is
