We have 3 guests who have a birthday on the same day as the wedding. We would like to do something more than just sing them happy birthday at the reception. i have seen people bring out a little mini cake as a surprise during the reception, i want to do this...

has anyone else done it, at what point during the night did you do it?
advice please??

I think it is a very nice and thoughtful idea. Seems like someone did it, maybe it was at the rehersal dinner though? I'd do it right after you cut the cake if you are serving it right away. If not you could do it right before you serve the cake.

Or, if they would all dance (I know some people don't like to dance) you could have a special dance for them and then just as the song ends bring the cake out. And have everyone sing Happy Birthday.

My uncle and cousin have a birthday on our wedding day. We ended up just singing "Happy Birthday" during dinner. I didn't have the energy to get a cake and worry how it would get to the reception.

I think it would be really hard to organize like Angela said. There's a lot going on during the reception it's hard to keep things on track. If you are going to be doing anything talk to your DJ about it.

I think *meghan* may have done this for one of her BMs at her wedding.

I think you would be way too busy to do much for them at the reception. I don't think anyone would expect a big to do on your wedding day anyhow, really.

Hey!
It's FH's Dad's birthday on our wedding day (we did ask him first!) and we're planning on getting SOMEONE (possibly one of his sisters)to make his special popcorn cake (he can't have dairy) and we're thinking about presenting it and singing either during our speech or during the dance, early on. At least that is the plan for now! He doesn't like to make a big deal about his birthday, but we don't think it should be completely overlooked!

We had a little cake for Jeff's mom (who's birthday was 3 days after the wedding). What was supposed to happen is once we were done with our cake cutting and pictures and junk that comes with that, the cake cutting song was supposed to just STOP, and happy birthday start, and Jeff's brother was in the back waiting to bring the cake (candles lit) out. Unfortunately the DJ apparently didn't quite understand the whole concept (not his fault, I didn't get to remind him myself and someone else messed up the message)... so we ended up waiting til that song ended... no biggie. It was still neat-o. :)

Biz and Jeff are actually getting married on Jeff's bday, but I don't think they're doing anything special besides pumpkin pies for the groom's cake(s). She might have something planned though... I'll send her in here when she gets internet again.

Biz and Jeff are going to enter the reception to "Happy Birthday". I also realized that the officiant's, Brandy, birthday is the following day. We might need to come up with something other way to celebrate their birfdays.

sounds cute, but I think I would be embarrassed as all hell, but I wouldn't anyway, never like the attention.
