What are your favorite ways to spend time together as a couple that don't cost a lot and/or are free?

Thought it might be fun to compile a list for those looking for something new to do that doesn't cost a ton of money.

We don't do all these things, but we could probably start ...some are just ideas that have popped into my head recently.

To start:

Playing board games
Going for walks together
Going to free gallery openings
Checking out free performances at local clubs/coffee shops
Having a picnic
Having "movie nights" in your living room, complete with making popcorn and all that stuff
Working out together
Cooking/baking/or otherwise creating something together
Taking some sort of class together, although this may not be that cheap

This is what we ended up doing last night. Sit at home and talk about whether or not to go out, then talk about where to go only to realize it's too late to go out anyway.

Any activity that is cheaper during the daytime than at night (especially during the week), provided you both have time during the day to do them!

-Going to a movie (can't beat a $4-5 matinee - sneak snacks in your purse!)
-Miniature golf (some places have special BOGO days)
-Going to a historical park, where you can walk around for free and learn local history (i.e. we have a national military park here that we visit a lot)
-Taking a drive through neighborhoods you've never been to before, especially new ones so you can peek in the houses being built

Scavenger hunts : think seasonal or otherwise, for the location you are in.

Read books together, or to each other.

Take romantic surveys together, you may learn something about the other that you never knew.

Go to a carnival/festival in town, just to people watch.

Go to a playground and ride the swings or see-saw.

Bike ride together.
Star watching on a blanket in the backyard or in a nearby field...OR on a rainy day go to the planetarium.
Snowtubing/ sleigh riding.

Be a tourist in your own hometown! Go to the library together and research historic places and things in your town and then go on tours to visit them.

Outdoor farmer's markets make for an interesting time!

Find out the schedule of events for nearby state parks, sometimes they have sailboat days or other things going on that are great to see!

Go to a car show, some are free...its neat to see cars from days gone by.

Antiquing.

Visit a winery for tour & tastings.

Make playdoh and act like kids for a few hours... create, imagine, have fun & share childhood stories as the memories come back to you while you play!

Antiquing.

For us, antiquing is very, very expensive. We can't seem to go anywhere without spending a fortune. :happytears:

We watch sports together.

We go to the park and play frisbee all the time.

Around here, a lot of the museums are pretty reasonable. So we're hoping to take public transportation and get some kind of like big pass to see a lot of stuff. We've just moved to town, so I still want to play tourist!! Especially since there is an awesome exhibit opening at the science and industry museum!!

This happens to us all to often.

There are some great ideas in here! Thx for starting this thread! :D

When the weather is warmer we go to the local bark park (dog playground) with our dog, he gets to blow off steam and we get to talk and spend time together outside of the house. Also there is a local race track that has amateur drag racing on Tuesday nights for $2 admission and this includes a free can of soda. The local park in town has movie night in the park for $2 per car a couple of times a month that is fun.

Now that the weather is getting cooler we decided to focus on craft projects for the house. We went to Michaels and Jo Anns and spent a little money on shelves and paints and picture frames etc, and are making all kinds of things for the house. SIL is having a baby next month so we even bought some fabric to make new baby Zack a blanket with the sewing machine we got for our wedding. DH know's how to sew, and I do not (strange I know), so he is teaching me in the process.

In the fall, we like to go to a cider mill, pick some apples, carve pumpkins, and do corn mazes.

We like to work in the yard together or go fishing. In the summertime, there are free concerts in the park every other Thursday. Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings is always fun plus he usually buys me flowers. :roses: Putting a good piece of meat on the grill and hanging out by the fireplace in the backyard is always  Camping is good and gives you lots of time to just sit and talk. Sometimes we drive around out in the country and pick up rocks for the fireplace. Cheap and good exercise. :giggle:
