Carrie's Umbrella's!!

Feel free to post comments, compliments and questions!

Our umbrellas were simple to make. We ordered the black and white umbrellas for the bridal party in bulk from ebay, as well as the large black golf umbrella for us, the bride and groom.

For the monogram we purchased large white iron on appliqués from Joann fabrics and used regular dye to turn them blue. We then ironed the appliqués onto the umbrellas according to the instructions – to keep the umbrella material from becoming damaged by the heat of the iron you just need to place a piece of white cotton material, such as a t-shirt, between the iron and the umbrella/appliqué.

It did rain on our wedding day so the umbrellas came in quite handy. We still have several of them and appliqués are still intact and look great!http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j310/GreeneWedding/SCANNED%20Book%201/Umbrella.jpg http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j310/GreeneWedding/SCANNED%20Book%201/umbrellas.jpg

The only “in action” pic I have… doesn’t show the monogram though :( http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j310/GreeneWedding/SCANNED%20Book%201/Getting%20Ready/111R.jpg

I love those! I never would have thought of doing an iron on monogram.

I wanted to do pink ones for our wedding party. But couldn't find any big pink umbrellas when I was looking and then forgot about them. Thankfully we didn't end up needing them anyway (just a few sprinkles after we were already at the location).

Carrie, I've always loved your umbrellas! :) I was suprised to read they were iron-on, though; for what ever reason, I've always assumed they were embroidered.

That's a brilliant Idea!! Especially if you're getting married out here on the Wet Coast! So simple and yet some personal! I love it!

Thanks, ladies! I was afraid that by ironing them on it would damage the umbrella but putting the white cotton cloth (we used a t-shirt) over the umbrella/monogram worked perfectly :)
They have held up well, too.. we still have a few umbrellas that we still use and all of the monograms are still on and haven't peeled or anything.

hmm...my future sister in law just bought an embroidery machine...I wonder if that would work also.
