If you're having children at/involved in the wedding, are you doing anything special for them that day?
Jer and I are hoping to create children's OOT bags with colouring pages/books, crayons etc... in them. And my FMIL must like the idea, because she's already bought a bunch of crayons and notepads and picked up a free recycling colouring book that she thought we could probably order more of :hehe:
And Jer and I plan to create the program for the ceremony and put some puzzles on the back pages for the kids (and big kids) to do while they wait ;)
Here's a good page with some create-your-own wordsearch, word jumbles, and crosswords! ArmoredPenguin.com (http://www.armoredpenguin.com/wordsearch/)
We also hope to have a kid's table at the reception with some activities that they can do :)

Kathy what a totally cool website.
We are having many kids in our wedding. I am getting a backpack or bag for each of them filled with special items. We'll also have a kids table. I'm putting butcher paper on top so they can color or draw right on it. And have some other things for them to do. We are having a DJ so I'm sure that will keep them busy. Kids love to dance.

I found a ring bearer backpack at weddingchannel.com and I've seen lots for flower girls around. For the other kids I'll probably just pick them up a bag local somewhere.

Have a fun, colorful, edible centerpiece at the kids table. A girl on UW a few years ago had a vase with green and pink jellybeans inside with candy sticks and lollipops coming out the top. It was SO adorable and she said the kids loved it. I wish I could find a cached pic of it, but I can't even remember her username anymore.

I think we have a pic of it, or one very similar. But can't seem to find it right off. :)

We gave the kids those glow necklaces once it got dark. Of course the adults seemed to enjoy them just as much.

I'll give you a hint... if you replace the stars with the second letter of the alphabet (you'll have to type it straight into your browser), you can see the picture. :) I'm leaving the post for now to see if Gina can (or wants to) modify the filter.

I tried all caps, too. No go. I swore I saw someone else on here mention that store by it's acronym, and it didn't filter it. *shrugs*

We will have lots of kids. We are having it at a park for starters. Huge playground. Pinata and games and things I got from different sites in lil bags. That will all be in my journal by the end of the weekend hopefully. We are also having a kid's only food table and cake table. Their cake will be a ship. We don't want kids at the adult buffet because not all kids like to be clean, lol.
Also I am buying a few tubs of wipes and I will decorate them. They will be left on each end of the kid's food table. That way maybe they can keep a lil cleaner.

Maybe if you're okay with a little mess, you could have a few plain cupcakes for the kids to decorate (keep them away from the wedding cake ;) ). You could have icing and all sorts of sprinkles and candies for the tops.

I am thinkin of making coloring books and going to dollar store and buying crayons for the little girls (2-6yrs). We are going to have older boys there also between 9-11 so not sure what we will do for them. They will be too old for a coloring book and very active boys.

Check Oddlots/Biglots for crayons. We just got an awesome deal on them a couple weeks ago. :)

Anyone have a website where you can print out wedding related pictures to make a coloring book?

Well, there's this one (http://www.thecrayonhouse.com/books/Occasions/OurWeddingDay/OurWeddingDay.pdf)...There's also a koala getting married (http://www.boowakwala.com/wedding/wedding-coloring-pages.html)? Like, wtf? LoL Another page (http://www.kids-korner.net/activities/coloring/jun/pic-4-june.html) And finally a whole Google Search (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLC,GGLC:1969-53,GGLC:en&q=wedding+coloring+pages) of Coloring Pages Wedding.
We are going to do kids favor bags and set them near the guest book table. They will have a mini coloring book crayons, stickers, animal crackers, etc.
If you girls are planning on doing coloring books right now is the best time to buy crayons because they are all on sale for the school year. I got 24 packs of crayons for .65 each at fred meyer, and I seen them even cheaper in a kmart ad.

The WalMart near me has them for .20 for a pack of 24 or .10 for an 8 pack of crayons.... and they are the crayola crayons, not the store brand!

I made coloring books for the kids and then put them in little gift baggies with a few other items (such as little teddy bears, crayons, puzzles, etc). I got all the little toys and such from oriental trading and with shipping it was less than $40 for 24 sets.

We will most likely end up with a bajillion kids at the wedding. Since we're using the upstairs of the venue for the reception, in the downstairs (which is all cement and undestroyable) I am going to put butcher paper on the tables and have the coloring books and crayons and some kid friendly snacks. I am also going to bring down my old small tv from the dorms and my old dvd player and leave some kiddo dvds out in case anyone wants to watch any. Luckily the dvd player is cheap and old, so if someone puts wedding cake in it it's no big loss.
I told FMIL about using the downstairs like that and she said, "Lock the doors and let 'em loose!"

We're only having a couple children at the wedding, so this won't be as much of an issue for us. I don't know yet what we'll do at the reception, but I have already picked up some things to put in the OOT baskets for them. I got everything in the $1 bin at Michael's.

Carrie, where did you find the pictures and puzzles for you books?

I made them - I drew the pictures to be colored (and the connect the dots) and the puzzles I made using excel and personalized them with our names and such (as the answers or search words). I scanned the pictures in once I finished and printed them for the books.

You are an amazing artist Carrie! I can't even draw stick people LOL I did a search for Disney coloring pages and found some nice ones though. Thanks for at least the inspiration :)
