Hey -- has anyone changed their name with them before? If so, how do you do it? I have realized I need to change it and have no clue how. I'm especially eager to do this seeing as a 1) never use it, and 2) am a big fat idiot (per my vent, LOL).

Anyone know how? I only have one credit card in my maiden name - I plan to keep this one and use it sporadically just to keep my personal credit up.

I'm not sure if this is true for American Express, but I have other credit cards and for them I just called them up and did what they asked for. One credit card took my word for it (which worried me) and the other asked that I send a copy of my marriage license, which once received, I was sent a new card. Hope that helps!

Awesome, thank you. That's what I was hoping for. I'm going to try and remember my marriage license tomorrow when I come to work. I really need to just get this taken care of. I have really good credit and all this stuff makes me paranoid occasionally that I just need to get it taken care of so I can have peace of mind!

I just called the 1-800 number on the back of my card and spoke with a live person. They changed it right there - I didn't have to send a copy of my marriage license or anything, which I thought was strange. But it was really easy! :)

That is strange.....but did they ask you a million questions and verify that it was you???? To change my mastercard and visa I had to fax my marriage certificate.

See I figured this would be the case, but in light of that I'm calling tomorrow. Awesome :)

I changed my name on 2 Visas and a couple store cards and none of them asked for my marriage license. They did ask me a lot of security questions though.

I was asked a lot of security questions, too - the secret code on my card, my SSN, address, secret password, yadda yadda.

It makes me sort of nervous how easy it was to change my last name, LOL. I'm not complaining though!
