I must have dropped our credit card bill somewhere in the car, and now that I have found it, it is three days late  I am paying it online now. Do you think being 3 days late will affect DH's credit?

Very minorly, especially if this is the first time or the first time in a long time that you've done that. They're looking a lot for patterns of not paying, rather than a one-time slip up. Obviously, my non-expert knowledge, from doing stuff like that myself, especially with store cards that you sort of forget about :shuffle:

Hope that helps!

What I have found generally says that paying more than 30 days late is what can ding your credit. But it all depends on whether the company involved takes action, ie getting a collection agency involved or filing a complaint. Usually they won't do that until you've been 30 days late on payments several times.

We've paid credit card bills up to 5 days late and not even been charged interest or a late fee. I'm pretty sure you won't see any repurcussions on a 3-day-late payment. That's just not the kind of deliquincy credit agencies are interested in.

You can always call the credit card company and explain the situation. A lot of times they will drop the late fees if you pay it reguarly.

They have not put on a late fee. I am probably just worrying for nothing, it was only three days. I just worry because it is DH's credit card, not mine, so I feel bad that I was irresponsible for misplacing the bill :(

I used to work for Bank Of America's customer service, but in checking instead, so I am not sure how the credit cards work.

You should be totally fine. But something that might ease your mind is to do what Sabrina said and call. Assuming you usually pay on time, just call, explain, apologize, and express your hope that this doesn't ding your husband's credit. Most likely, they will completely reassure you, and you'll feel better. :)

I know with Bank of America that they have hit us with a late charge before for being a few days late but it won't hit your credit report until you are more than 30 days late. I wouldn't worry about it, especially if it doesn't happen all the time.

You have to be at least 30 days late for it to be reported to the credit bureaus. The I would just call the credit card company and ask them as a courtesy to reverse the late charge after you make the online payment.

Yep, you have to be 30 days late for them to report it, you are perfectly fine! I seriously dobt they will even charge you a late fee, but if they do, just call and explain and they will drop it.
