Hi Everyone!
Welcome to the "Santa may jiggle like a bowl full of jelly, but I won't! Christmas W/L Challenge!
!!!

DA, I hope you don't mind I started the Christmas one. We're all here for the same purpose.....I liked the Thanksgiving one because it gave me a lot of motivation and kept me accountable!! This challenge goes from November 26th through December 23rd, but anyone can join in at any time!

As the holidays approach we will be tempted left and right with fabulous, rich & tasty foods that have a tendency to leave their mark on our hips, thighs, waist and our bathroom scale. As a team though we can give one another motivation, great ideas, accoutability and the rest of the tools it takes to get through the holidays unscathed.

Please start by stating your goals:
How many pounds and/or inches would you like to lose?
What are your exercise plans & goals?
What food challenges and weaknesses do you want to overcome?
What are your diet goals?
Do you have any particular article of clothing you'll use to gauge your progress?

Let's get started!

And here is a water calculator to figure out if you are getting enough water on a daily basis....

PLEASE NOTE...ANYONE CAN POST IN HERE...IF YOU WANT TO CHEER SOMEONE ON OR HAVE TOOLS THAT CAN HELP IN EVERYONE'S GOALS....POST AWAY.

WOOHOO I am the first one. Thanks for starting this one Cindy.

Please start by stating your goals: My main goal is to get to my pre-wedding weight. Which I know that I can do. I am giving myself till the end of December instead of the deadline for the challenge.

How many pounds and/or inches would you like to lose? I would like to loose these last 3.75 pounds, so I can get back to my pre-wedding weight of 190lbs. As for inches, I will take what ever falls off.

What are your exercise plans & goals? I want to continue going to Curves 3 times a week. And hopefully I will buy something that I can do on my days off to speed up the process.

What food challenges and weaknesses do you want to overcome? Same as the last challenge, junk food, pepsi, anything chocolate. I would just like to cut down and watch what I eat.

What are your diet goals? Watch what I eat and cut down on the amount of junk food that I eat.

Do you have any particular article of clothing you'll use to gauge your progress? I want my size 14 jeans to fit a little more loosely.

I'm joining this one! My goal is basically just to keep the progress I've made through the holidays. Just basically keep working out and watching my food. I'm not going to make some unrealistic goal through the holidays and set myself up for failure.

~Sherry~

I will join! I missed the thanksgiving one due to my lack of internet, but now that I am back, let's get the show on the road!!

How many pounds and/or inches would you like to lose? Atleast 5 pounds and keep them off, I would like to lose about 10 at/before Christmas.

What are your exercise plans & goals? Pilates, walking (weather permitting), The Core. Goals will be to feel stronger, sore, and maybe sleep better.

What food challenges and weaknesses do you want to overcome? Ice cream :shuffle: We generally do not keep 'junk' food in the house so grocery shopping will need to bypass the ice cream and cookie aisles. I also tend to snack on whatever. And not keep up on my water intake, so that's another issue I need to address.

What are your diet goals? Eat better, more practical meals. We hardly eat fast food, it's just getting the right amount of goodness on the plate.

Do you have any particular article of clothing you'll use to gauge your progress? I have noticed my jeans giving my muffin top some extra top so let's go with jeans.

I want to join. Now that my exercise bike has arrived I feel I no longer have any excuses haha

How many pounds and/or inches would you like to lose? I'd like to lose 10 lbs
What are your exercise plans & goals? I plan on using my exercise bike at least 5x a week. So far I have only been doing 5 miles a day... didn't realize how out of shape I was! By the end of this challenge I would like to get up to 10 miles a day w/o it being a big deal.
What food challenges and weaknesses do you want to overcome? I really need to learn not to go back for second right away. Most of the time when I do wait and see what I ate filled me up I find that one plate is plenty. I just need that 15 minutes or so for my brain to realize it.
What are your diet goals? Eat healthier, eat less
Do you have any particular article of clothing you'll use to gauge your progress? Maybe a pair of jeans that are sort of tight

ETA...this week 12/03 I have discovered more goals that I wish to add

1) Learn to eat breakfast again, and a healthy one at that.
2) Beat the demon that is being hungry at night and wanting to snack, I stay up late a lot of the time and that is when I always want to snack. No, no, no!
3) Drink more water.

:faint: I need 13 glasses. So I guess I will start off with a mini goal for a week and see if I can do that before forcing 13 glasses down. I will try for 6 glasses, it's hard to remember to drink anything without a meal, so 6 sounds reasonable to begin with.

I agree, Sherry. I take 5 16.9 oz. bottles with me to work every day, so I'm getting close to what I need. But man, it's hard to drink that much b/c then you have to pee!

Hi gals :hiya:

I actually joined a contest at the gym for over the holidays. It was $5 and if you maintain/lose weight from 11/19-1/9 then you get entered into a drawing for the money! I need some extra motivation to win that money ;)

How many pounds and/or inches would you like to lose? Ideally I would love to lose around 5 pounds, but realistically if I can maintain I will be very happy.

What are your exercise plans & goals? This is going to be my big focus. I want to make it to the gym at least four days a week. I plan to continue training for the 5K, take some turbo kick classes and spinning classes.

What food challenges and weaknesses do you want to overcome? My challenges are endless during the holidays! I love, love, love sweets of any kind so Christmas cookies, cake, ice cream...all big trouble for me! I need to focus on not grabbing a cookie every time I go into the kitchen...those calories add up.

What are your diet goals? I don't want to deprive myself but I don't want to overindulge. If I feel like I MUST have a cookie, I'll have one...but not two.

Do you have any particular article of clothing you'll use to gauge your progress? I have a smokin' pair of jeans that I would love to get back into!

I can get myself to drink 8-8oz glasses of water a day. But like you say then you are peeing all the time. But it gets better, as your body gets used to you drinking all that water. Plus its a great way to flush out all the bad stuff in your body.

Thanks Angie! :hehe:

Well, I waited until after AF left, and I weighed myself. Since I had gone to the Dr. just when our challenge started, I knew what I weighed then. I weighed myself this morning......(Drumroll please............)

I've lost 14 pounds! :woo: I have one more to go before I can put up the 80 pound marker! :excited:

Go Cindy!! :cabbagepatch:

I didn't do to bad at another dinner last night. I ate mostly turkey and I had small scoop of cheesey pototoes. Then I had a small piece of pumpkin pie. But I did bad at water. I didn't drink any (our city water is horrible, and we are going to the store today). I drank a half can of pepsi (my first in 2 months). But at home I drank milk.

Cindy

:ovation: Thank you, thank you. :giggle:

That doesn't sound like you did too bad, Sherry. It would be different if we ate like this every day... but one day isn't a disaster.

Anyone drink Fuze? it!

Please start by stating your goals:
How many pounds and/or inches would you like to lose?
I would like to lose at least 5 by Christmas, I'd be thrilled with 10, and giddy with 20.

What are your exercise plans & goals?
I'm going to try to do Turbo Jam (20 mins. workout, or another workout) at least 4 times a week.

What food challenges and weaknesses do you want to overcome?
My name is Cindy, and I'm a chocoholic.

What are your diet goals?
To do the best I can every day, and if I stumble, pick myself up and start again.

Do you have any particular article of clothing you'll use to gauge your progress?
My jeans, again! Maybe they'll fall off this time. :moon:

How many pounds and/or inches would you like to lose? I just want to firm things up a little

What are your exercise plans & goals?
Food: Eat well...not too much or too little, and just take small pieces of sweets. Also, keep my water intake up through my religious drinking of decaf tea.
Exercise: Brave the exercise room downstairs and try to go at least twice a week. Try to walk a little bit at lunch and to walk faster on my way to and from the train (about a mile each way).

What food challenges and weaknesses do you want to overcome?
Hypoglycemia making me need to eat more often because my blood sugar has gone down. I need to focus on food that keeps my blood sugar steady. Also, chocolate and cake.

What are your diet goals?
Firm up certain areas of my body and feel more fit in general.

Do you have any particular article of clothing you'll use to gauge your progress? My khaki work pants that are a little tight.

I am in the process of reading Dr Oz's book, YOU on a Diet. It is the best diet book I've read in years. So my goals are still being somewhat formed as I read more of his books but here they are so far.

How many pounds and/or inches would you like to lose? two inches off my waist
What are your exercise plans & goals? I will get to the gym four days a week and use the eliptical for 30 minutes
What food challenges and weaknesses do you want to overcome? this time of year, staying away from all the sweets. Also night time eating.
What are your diet goals? get in more fruits and veggies, cut out all trans fats
Do you have any particular article of clothing you'll use to gauge your progress? no

:bear2: When do we get to see a progress picture? You are doing so great!

Cindy
11-26-2007, 09:56 AM
Thanks. Oh Lisa, I hate my pictures. I used to love having my picture taken, but in the last 18 months, that joy just went away......but I'll see what I can do. I kind of like my new school picture, so I can do a little progression of some kind, I think. :)

All right, even though I sucked at the last challenge, I am in! I need some :kickbutt: when it comes to my motivation so maybe this will help!

Please start by stating your goals: To keep eating healthy foods and get to the gym more!

How many pounds and/or inches would you like to lose? 5 pounds will be nice but as long as I stick to my above goals, I will be happy!

What are your exercise plans & goals? To get myself back onto a routine like I was when I was working out with a trainer.

What food challenges and weaknesses do you want to overcome? eating sweets and eating whatever is easiest, instead of cooking something healthy.

What are your diet goals? To keep myself on a balanced meal plan

Do you have any particular article of clothing you'll use to gauge your progress? Just my everyday clothes.

Cindy congrats on the weight loss. Thats great. Keep up the good work.

Its great to see more people in here.

I have decided that starting when this challenge starts I am going to go to Curves 5 times a week at the most. And I will start doing my ab crunches as well after my workout. I will do this till the end of December. See what my results are. Then in January I am going to go back to 3 times a week. I don't want to get burnt out with working out.

But my main goal is to get rid of this muffin top and look better. The pound are that important as the inches are.

I need to join this. My main problem is getting myself motivated to even get started! I haven't been doing anything in almost all of 2007 to lose weight!
Lorraine! It's SO great to see you! I remember when you were the queen of weight loss challenges :heee:Thanks!! :) It's great to see you too! :yippee: I'm so glad these challenges are being resurrected, I certainly need these and it's great to see some of us old weight loss buddies back in business! :grouphug: :workout:

11-26-2007, 05:40 PM
Please start by stating your goals:
To feel better, look better, to get back down to my old old college weight.

How many pounds and/or inches would you like to lose?
Many pounds, many inches. Actually let me see... at this point I need to lose 30-40Ibs total. For this challenge I'll be happy with 5 or 10. Overall the total number of inches I'd like to lose is... hmmmm... well that's hard. I know I need to lose a few inches off everywhere. So we'll see. It's easier for me to gauge my progress by weight since I've been at my goal weight before and I still have all my old clothes from that weight (some probably out of date at this point  ).

What are your exercise plans & goals?
To get to the gym, and I need to renew my gym membership in February. To go to the gym and act like a newby in January even though it'll be the tail END of my old membership, not a NEW membership

What food challenges and weaknesses do you want to overcome?
EVERY and ANY challenge/weakness. I know I need to have lesser calorie beverages (cut the hot chocolate habit, and less/lower calorie or no beer when we go out to eat). Smaller portions.

What are your diet goals?
To start eating breakfast, at least something, I never eat breakfast, need to change that. To eat more nutritious foods although I don't really eat all that much junk, there are never any chips or ice cream at home if I can help it, I always make sure there are veggies with my lunch or dinners, and I need to increase the fruit intake.

Do you have any particular article of clothing you'll use to gauge your progress?
Yes, my entire closet. I'm down to only a few things that fit me right now. Actually I did buy a new pair of jeans on my birthday that I could barely squeeze on and couldn't button that are specifically meant to be fit into, or even be loose by the time my next birthday rolls around :crossfing:

Robbys Girl

This week I've been starting out small and working my way towards a regular schedule of eating right/exercising. I'm starting with my diet. I'm cutting way down on portion size and during the week I always seem to eat healthy althoug lately I've been eating double the size (i.e., bigger salads, more dressing than I need, stuff like that).

I've been eating part-skim cheese sticks, wasabi soybeans, and apples for snacks, salads for lunch, I'm starting out with bananas for breakfast but I need to start incorporating a decent breakfast into my diet (I don't usually eat breakfast at all, first food of the day isn't til 12 noon usually  ).

Gotta get myself back to the gym and going regularly not just once a month.

Just by drinking more water and cutting down on portions I've lost 4 pounds since Thanksgiving, but my weigh-in Thanksgiving morning (actually that whole entire week) was horrible and huge enough, so I don't know if it even counts

11-27-2007, 05:07 PM
Robby's Girl, its great that you are starting out with doing small things, and working your way up.

Have fun at the gym, that always makes it better for working out then hating it. Or even find a buddy to go with. That would also help.

I'm here....and really discouraged about not losing weight for the Thanksgiving challenge to be totally honest with everyone.

If you all don't mind...I will post my goals and such like that when maybe tomorrow..I have a bad attitude at this current moment and I really don't want to bog anyone else down with that. We are here to build one another up not down....soooo.....I just wanted to say I'm here....and I'll be back tomorrow with a better attitude.

Congrats to you all joining the Challenge!!! I wish everyone success!!! :cheer:

DA- :glomp:

What day does everybody weigh-in/measure? I think my weigh-in days will be Tuesday, since Christmas is on a Tuesday this year :)

How did everybody do today?

~Sherry~
11-27-2007, 07:20 PM
It really doesn't matter to me, before it was fridays just because :dontknow: but tuesdays are fine since Christmas is on tuesday.

I didn't so well with water intake. I got 2 glasses. Eating went well, I didn't get to workout, unless you want to count giving horsie rides for 20 minutes and letting Breanna chase me with her stroller for 10 and me pushing her chasing our dog for 5 minutes.

Deidre98
11-27-2007, 09:46 PM
I didn't do too badly. I was good with my food, especially at dinner. I stopped when I realized I was picking at my salad. I drank 4 bottles of water and a huge tall glass of crystal lite fruit punch. The only thing I didn't do was workout but I am up and about at home tonight straightening up the apartment, cleaning the kitchen and folding/putting away the laundry. So at least I am on my feet versus sitting at the computer or in front of the tv.

~Sherry~
11-27-2007, 09:52 PM
:word: Besides the time I was online today I was up and cleaning, playing w/Breanna, doing dishes, laundry (walking up and down stairs with a 25 lb kid and basket of clothes). From 5pm to now I've been on my feet.

Today has been so - so.

I had both lunch and dinner at work, which means very little choice in what we eat. Lunch was way high in fat I'm sure...Dinner was barely dinner...beef, but gross mashed potatoes and terrible steamed vegetables.

:sigh: And I was working until like, 8PM so it wasn't a great day in general...certainly wasn't about to work out...

How many pounds and/or inches would you like to lose? I would love to lose at least one solid dress size, but I don't know how realistic that is by Christmas. Mostly I would just like to see a difference.
What are your exercise plans & goals?
Going to the gym as often as I can, and doing Hip Hop Abs when I can't. Generally being more active.
What food challenges and weaknesses do you want to overcome? Overeating. Eating for boredom. Poor food choices cuz their easy.
What are your diet goals? I don't really have any specific diet plan. I just want to make healthy choices and get back on the food wagon.
Do you have any particular article of clothing you'll use to gauge your progress? I have a pair of Tommy Jeans that when I bought them I could only wear with Spanx. I can now wear them without, but I would like to remove any remnants of muffin top, and will use them to get toooo big!!

The last challenge really helped until my life got in the way with the funeral and all, but I think I am back on track and this will be a huge help.

We can do it!!

Cindy
11-28-2007, 08:01 AM
We have so many people joining us, Yay! :twirl: We are all here to support each other!! :woo:

Tuesdays are fine with me also. I weighed on Sunday morning, so I'll wait till next week to post any findings. :)

Robbys Girl
11-28-2007, 11:26 AM
I weigh in daily so Tuesday weigh-in here works for me too (any day of the week for a weigh-in works although of course Monday weigh-ins are the highest for me for obvious reasons  ).

I use to weight in on Mondays but, since the Thanksgiving Challenge I changed it to Wednesdays.......

nikkiscott
11-28-2007, 01:56 PM
I can weigh in whenever. I will just make sure to go to curves that morning and use their scale. Its way more better then mine at home.

Well I am finding it hard to get going to workout. I usually go Wednesday mornings, and today I never went. I am thinking about going tonight, but doubt that. I am meeting 2 other girls their tomorrow night at 5pm, so I will go then and them again maybe Friday morning. That way I will still get in my three workout.

I have found something to work for. I am looking at buying this (http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10095498&catid=10850#). And I thought this could be a goal reward for me. So I thought if I hit my 190 lbs goal by the end of December, I will treat myself and by it as a reward. I only have 3.74 pounds to go, but its something that I have to work for. Cause those are going to be a hard last few pounds. They are costly, but I will look around and find one for a better price. I just want one in BLUE.

QOTD: A friend of mine also wants to get on board with losing some pounds. We want to come up with ideas for rewards for each other/ourselves for every 5 pounds lost, for example, a new shirt or pair of pants, a new bag, a night out together for drinks. I can't think of much else  Do you have any goal rewards set for when you lose a certain # of pounds? Any ideas?

What are your exercise plans & goals? Minimun of 3 times a week

What are your diet goals? To stay within my WW requirements and to become healthier

I've had a good three days and have worked out every day so far :) I've given up my outside running for the Couch to 5K (too darn cold!!) but I'm still running 2-3 miles on the treadmill at the gym :heee:

I think that a pedi is a great way to reward yourself~ Go you for doing 2-3 miles on the treadmill. :woo:

So I couldn't buy a new Dooney and Bourke bag every time I made it to my mini goal??? :shuffle: Damn...of course, I don't know if my DH would like very much....

Hmmm... D&B bags for a mini goal? I'm not so sure Nick would go for that. But it's a fab idea! I want a white one with the rainbow hearts and letters on it. :heee:

Woooo! I just got back from my 3rd day in a row at the gym!! Go me! Boy could I feel the ab muscles I worked yesterday when I worked them again today!! I feel like I am getting back on track!

Good job for working out 3 days in a row!

:woo:

I did very well with water today :bow2: I managed to get 46 oz in me!! It helps when you have a huge cup (think 36 oz speedway cups) to drink! I was done with over half by noon!

Tomorrow- WORK OUT SHERRY!!! I saw video from this weekend and I'm very unhappy with how I 'let myself go' :(

 I know how you feel. I've hated having my picture taken for about 18 months now, it isn't all b/c of the weight either....but I sure don't like how I look. Keep up the water drinking, it does help. :highfive:

I buy DVDs for every 10.That's a good idea

You could set a goal for anything - nail polish, perfume, massage, mani/pedi, CDs, DVDs, books, or just time for yourself for like a bubble bath and a glass of wine, milk, beer, whatever you want.

I got a chuckle out of the fact you added milk to the list. :giggle: Yeah no kidding' I don't know if I'd call that reward per se  But I like the idea of wine or beer with a nice bath! :wine: :drink:

Hope Wendy don't mind!

I bought The Biggest Loser Fitness Program book and it tells you that a good rule of thumb for making sure you are getting enough water is to divide your weight by 2 and that is how many ounces of water you should be drinking a day. So if you weigh 200 lbs, you should be drinking at least 100 fluid ounces a day of water. The book also suggests drinking 2 cups of water when you first wake up in the morning to rehydrate your body.

I had a really good day today. My co-workers god bless their hearts brought me a huge cookie...about 6 inches...ACROSS!! It's still sitting here...UNTOUCHED...might I add. :giggle:

I have to recommend the Progresso Soup that you are now seeing on the commericals and in Magazines...Weight Watchers is endorsing them due to their low point line. I have to say they have really good flavor...I've had all of them and they are very tasty. It's a nice, filling low point lunch. I would have something else to eat along with it for the whole chew factor but, very tasty regardless.

I bought alot of WW meals last night AND desserts so when I have a sweet tooth I can grab a low point dessert.

Well I went and worked out tonight. I was meeting 2 other girls at Curves to do our Turbo time and they never showed. I was pissed cause if I would of known that I would of worked out this morning or even this afternoon. But I worked out and thats what matters.

As for goals, not sure. I like the ideas that you posted plus what the other gals posted.

DA, I like the Savory Barley Vegetable the best. I didn't care for the Italian one. :gag:

Good for you for staying away from the jumbo cookie! :highfive: I'm proud of you.

Deidre, I don't think I could drink half my body weight. It would be a LOT of water. I'll try though.

I discovered the other night that my Comcast On Demand has free work out videos to watch...cardio stuff..yoga...all kinds of stuff. Yay, I can switch up my routine a bit.

I get really bored on the exercise bike...it really gets the heart pumping, but damn...it can be just boring sometimes lol I watch TV while I'm on it..but I'm not a big TV person so even that is kind of boring. I wish there was a way to make it more entertaining!

No place to put a book or magazine..that sucks!

If I watch something that I am actually super interested in, it helps. So I'll have to find some shorter programs that I am really interested in to keep around.

I need to get my MP3 player going...I suppose the exercise bike would be perfect time for me to listen to albums I've been meaning to listen to but never have the time.

I've added a new goal for myself this week...start to learn how to eat breakfast again! Cuz I'm seriously bad about it.

This weekend wasn't too bad considering we went to Disneyland. I had a couple of bites of DH's brownie and a peppermint mocha. I really wanted a tiger tail (marshamellow covered in chocolate) but I was so full from the mocha that I didn't get it. I didn't want to make myself sick. Yesterday, I was really good since I stayed home except for the water. I only drank 64oz. Oh well.

I have been not going to work out. The last time I went was last Thursday night. I did go this morning. I find with it being cold in the am that its harder to get up and go. So I am thinking about going in the afternoon sometime. That way its a little warmer, and I can fit it in nicely in the afternoon.

I found a Elliptical Bike (http://www.sears.ca/gp/product/B000VYGKL8/ref=pd_huc_gp_1?ie=UTF8&searsBrand=core) at Sears. Good price I think. But I don't know to much about them. So if anyone knows anything about these, let me know if this is a good one. Cause I will be ordering by the weekend for sure.

Since I haven't been working out I gained a little poundage. Not a lot. I can get it off no problemo.

Deidre- Congrats on controlling yourself at Disneyland! That had to be hard!

I just got home from a kick-butt workout :heee: I was very excited that the body sculpt class I went to had a substitute teacher...It was Janelle (sister of Turbo Jam creator, for you TJ girls!) and she was insane. I know I'll be feeling that tomorrow :lol2:

Getting all my water is still a struggle. I really need to focus on that!

Morning ladies. How is everyone doing??

I went and worked out yesterday. Which I thought was great. Today I think I am going to go this afternoon. Maybe around 1pm. That way it splits up the day. Plus I can still come home and make supper. I am hoping to like working out in the afternoon.

Also I have decided to order that Elliptical machine. I think it will help out in many ways. Plus I can use it while watching tv. Or plug in the mp3 player, or even put in a cd. There are just so many options for these machines that its hard to know which one is better then the other. But why spend a lot of money on something, that you may not use as much as you thought you would.

I am hoping to use mine on the days that I don't work out on. Like I was doing when I was walking in the am. And for just as long as well, 40 minutes.

I'll keep you all posted when it comes in and all that fun stuff.

Hope you all have a great Wednesday.

Hanukah is bad for the waistline. They keep having sufganiyot...which are Israeli donuts, and they are basically irresistable because you really can't get them any other time of the year. They come in two flavors: caramel cream filling with caramel icing on top or raspberry/strawberry jelly filling with powdered sugar on top.

<~~~ dies of happiness.

The one good thing I can say is that I only had one today, but I was sorely tempted to have one with lunch AND one when we lit candles upstairs. But I didn't, only the one with lunch. Not great for my waistline, but I also barely ate lunch so that's gotta count for something, right?

So, I'm just saying...one for each day of work during hanukah (that's...tomorrow, I'm hoping to get Friday off, then Monday and Tuesday...) and then they go away until next Hanukah. Life's too short to resist sufganiyot!!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, I'm way late on this one, but I've got to jump in. This time of year kills me. My goal weight is 130(or anywhere from 127 to 133 but if I can keep it at 130 I'm good). Right now I'm hanging around 138-141 on any given day. So I'm not to happy about that. If I could just make it through christmas and new years and be 135 I would be thrilled!!

I'm got to limit my having sweets to every other day. And have them in moderation. I mean, cookies and such is part of the christmas season and I don't want to miss out. But it doesn't mean I have to have a cookie every day. I figured if I have maybe 1 cookie every other day that it shouldn't make me gain weight as long as I'm exercising. Which is a struggle now that it's cold. Walking is what I do and it's been so cold and today it snowed. I'm really missing my walking. I've tried the walking videos, I hate them.

Anyway, we can do it ladies!!

Cindy, I'm the same way when I lose weight. Everyone's like...you look SOOOO good, me, it's like "if you say so..." You've done a great job though!!

Exercise DVD's, I got them, I like them, but I never use them. Anyone else have that problem? The floor squeaks to much, everything rattles and I end up giving up because I get tired(that's the way to stick to it and lose weight!!)

I saw the results of eating unhealth yesterday was up a pound and a half to 140.6(I HATE going over 140!!!) I didn't have a bad day today. I'm not sure it was a good day, but it wasn't bad. I was so hungry and lunch time I had three bowls of salad. I guess it wasn't very filling because it was just lettuce and some bacon bits and cheese scattered through it. There were cherry tomatoes but I can't stand the texture of raw tomatoes.

My menu for the day(and sometimes I eat strange things...)

B~
two apples microwaved until they were soft w/ a cup of milk over them
S~
1 pack apple cinnamon oatmeal
1 piece of chocolate
L~
3 bowls of salad w/ light ranch dressing
S~
dannon yogurt
1 piece of chocolate

chicken breast

OMG Sara, I absolutely LOVE peanut butter. Why don't you eat some in an apple or some celery. That way your getting fruits and veggies... plus you'll be putting the jar away once your filled your apple/celery so it'll be easier not to eat the whole jar. ;)

QOD, I was just wondering what people's goals are going to be for the New Year thats fast approaching??

Mine is going to be to tone up my arms and calves and to get my muffin top smaller. BTW, I told Scott thats what we all have been calling it, and he thought it was funny. He never thought of it that way. SO now whenever he sees it, he laughs and says muffin top. I want to feel good and look as good as I feel for when I head to California in September.

I know I'm super late on this one, but I'd still love to join in! Since I'm late coming into this one, I will only set a goal of losing 5 pounds before Christmas.

Pasta. Pasta is my weakness. I love Italian food, but I'm going to try to tone things down here. I'm not huge on sweets, so those aren't too much of an issue. It's too cold to walk here, so that is out for now, but I have a treadmill that I can use and a work out DVD to do.

I am so frustrated with scales right now!! :complain: I weighed myself at home this morning..then I had a doctors appointment at 11:30 and on their scale I was 7 pounds LESS (with my clothes on!)...then I used the scale at the gym and I was 5 pounds heavier than my original weight from the morning. So either I lost and gained 12 pounds in one day, a couple of those scales are wrong  :lol2: I like to believe my true weight in the lightest one!

So I have decided that unless I have a trainer, I am a complete slacker. I think I am going to go back to my trainer to lose this remaining weight. Apparently, I need more motivation than just being overweight. Sigh. I am going to have to find some way to pay for this.

johnsdeere

Is there a monthly fee at the gym or do you have to pay per session??

Deidre98
12-10-2007, 05:53 PM
I have to pay for the trainer. I forget what it costs but it's something like $400 for 10 25 minute sessions or $1500 for 25 50 minute sessions so it's pretty expensive but I admit I need it. I haven't gone to the gym since right after the wedding and I am back to being moody and lazy and I know the fact that I am not working out has a lot to do with it.

Cindy
12-10-2007, 05:55 PM

So they charge you $1.60 per minute to train you. Would the 25 minute sessions be enough and then you can do some kind of cardio on your own or would the 50 minute sessions be what you need??

Wait a minute..... These fees wouldn't be for even a full month. :faint: Ouch.....What would you do once you got to your goal?? Would you continue to use the trainer or do you think you can maintain your goal on your own.

I know...questions, questions, questions.....

I like the 50 minute sessions more because I do my cardio as well so I work out for a full 80 minutes which is great for me. But, I do like the 25 minute sessions because I would get home earlier. I think I want to see the price difference and go from there.

If I work out with him 2 days a week, then the 10 sessions would last 5 weeks and the 25 sessions would last for about 12 weeks. I have no idea how I would be once I got to my goal. Maybe if I am back into the routine and look good again, I can convince myself to go on my own but I am not sure. That would be something I would worry about when the time comes.

I am going to attempt to go back and do my cardio on my off days. I did that in the beginning but then started getting stressed out with the wedding and only did 2 days a week at the gym with my trainer. Now without wedding planning though, I am going to try to do at least 2-3 days of cardio on my own.

*vent over*

I think most scales are wrong. But if you got weighed on one with the weights that would be my guess to be the proper weight. Cause the scales at home and at doctors offices are always off, old and all that.

A trainer would be nice. Someone to help you make your workout even better. You are so lucky. There are no trainers were I live.

Well I went and worked out this morning. First time since last Thursday. Its been so cold, and then with this new dog. But today I wanted to go, set my mind to it and went. Glad I went also. I needed a workout. Weighed myself, and I am only 2 pounds away from my pre-wedding weight. I can do it. I am giving myself to the end of December. I am hoping with the elliptical machine, that will help me out even more.

I"m with you guys. In the morning? Not. Going. To. Happen.

I also rumble about getting a personal trainer, they offer them at my little gym, it's just a matter of $$$. I am thinking I may be in need of soem help in teh new year just to drop the wedding weight I am desperate to lose. Maybe just a few sessions. My friend who is certified came and showed us some of the machines, but it wasn't an ass kicking and I don't think he can kick my ass enough!!

Last night I went to the gym and one of the owners whom I've only seen once before was there. I asked her about the skinny jean contest the gym had earlier this year....I wanted more details and such. She said that 40 people signed up for the challenge but, not even half of them finished. It was a 12 week competition and there was a huge cash price...divided up between first, second and third place. Depending on the fees to join the contest, I'm really considering the challenge.

Dispite not losing any weight for a while, it might be just what I need. I hope they figure out more of the details and make the fees and such known to everyone. I'd use the money for skinny clothes.

I've been eatting great and logging my points!! Here's hoping and praying the scale shows some results sooner then later!!

QOD, I was just wondering what people's goals are going to be for the New Year thats fast approaching??

To start getting to the gym, to lose at least 5 pounds, to get myself in the habit of exercising. That's been the worst thing for me so far, to get myself to exercise. Getting up early in the morning to do so means PAIN.

I had one tiny peppermint brownie for dessert last night but I was so happy I didn't go straight for them when I got home from work. I figure if I limit myself to a tiny one a day, that can't hurt as long as I have room with my calories.

Thanks Nikki....It all comes down to the money to be honest....If I have to pay $100.00 or something I might reconsider it.

Last night I through caution into the wind and after doing my 35 minutes of circuit training I spent 20 minutes on the elliptical machine!!! :whoop: I might have to start doing that more often....I figured out how many WW activity points that gives me and every time I do both...I get 5 activity points.....
After reading the article I posted I figured I really needed to do some additional cardio in my workouts soooo....I opted for the elliptical machine. I worked out at a fast and steady pace too. I hope to see the results on the scale but, also all over my body.

Come Monday night, I am a slave to my trainer again. Obviously I can't do this by myself and at least my trainer is a good guy. Of course, I won't be saying this Tuesday! I need to do this so I can get back into the healthy range because right now, I am still not healthy even though I am better than I was a year ago. I need to do this, not only for myself and my family but for any future children we might have. I want to try and have the least complications as possible and that starts with me and my starting weight when I get pregnant. So there you go.

Thanks DA! I have an even better goal now than just being healthy to try and get pregnant, even though it follows along those lines. This weekend I found a Dooney and Bourke diaper bag that is super cute and would work well no matter the gender of a future baby. I jokingly sent it to Nick who told me when I lose 20 pounds, he will buy it for me and we will stick it aside for our future chidlren!! :woo: Like my manager said, "He's dangling the carrot!" Nope, I am going to do a modified version of what my trainer had me on before. The only difference is I am going to allwo myself to have red meat every once in awhile. I had a hard time before because my meal plan consisted of chicken and pork and nothing else. It got old really quickly.

I didn't do so well this weekend. One of my co-workers actually died on Saturday from a brain aneurysm that burst on Friday. I kinda hit the comfort food even though I knew better. So yeah, I jumped on the scales this morning to a lovely 141, 6 lbs above my goal of 135. Sigh...and I got my period today on top of all of that. I'll admit I'm really struggling to stay out of the chocolate and cookies. Where has my will power gone???!!!???

nikkiscott
12-17-2007, 07:28 PM
Loosing anyone is hard, and I think everyone goes for the comfort food. Don't beat yourself up over it. And 6 pounds isn't that much. When you are back together, after AF and things settle down with this co-worker, you will get back to what you need to do.

Deidre98
12-17-2007, 08:16 PM
I agree with Nikki. These situations are so hard anyway that there is no shame in going for the comfort food. Just do the best you can but don't beat yourself up about it and get back on the bandwagon once things have settled down.

So, my trainer stood me up today. I am beyond pissed. If you are interested in more details, they are in my journal.

OK so I FINALLY got my lazy ass in gear and exercised TWICE so far! I did one hour on my stationary bike, on Saturday and last night! I'm trying to kick it up a notch with healthier lower calorie foods too. That parts been a little harder but you gotta do what you gotta do! I've been having oatmeal or a banana for breakfast, trying to get myself to have breakfast on a regular basis. Low-fat string cheese for a snack and skim milk for my beverage and I've been stepping up the water intake. From last week I've lost 2-3 pounds so I'm happy about that.

Well ladies I have some great news. I went and worked out again today. 2 days in a row. Plus I also needed to get weighted and measured. So I done that. Wasn't really looking forward to it, cause I have been bad. But it turned out great.
I went from 39.50 to 37.75 in my waist, from 46.50 to 45.50 in my ab area, from 46.50 to 46.25 in my hip area, and my body fat % went from 40.60 to 39.10, which is about 2 pounds of fat I got rid of. I was so freaking happy. Something I am doing is working. I knew I was loosing inches, cause my snug size 14 jeans, that I have only wore before the wedding, were snug, fit but snug, and this last week I have been wearing them, and they fit good, but are also loose fitting. So I knew I lost something just didn't think it would be that much. I feel great. I can't wait to see what happens when I get that machine in and going on that. :excited:

I think I know where I am going to put it, but I am unsure. I have to move a few things around. I would like it out of the livingroom for Christmas day, that way no one has to look at it, or mess with it. Or make fun of me for buying one.

I know I should prob. have something along w/ it but I was hungry and already had my apple for a (extra) morning snack and I really want to save my yogurt for this afternoon.

I'm just really not sure how to curb my appetite...chewing gum right now.

Breakfast: - 2 packs apple cinnamon oatmeal
Snack 1: grapefruit/orange wedges left over from yesterdays dinner
Snack 2: apple
Lunch: grilled chicken caesar lean cuisine
Snack 3: dannan light n' fit yogurt
Supper: ?? (cereal & milk maybe)

Well, my weight on the Friday before Christmas was 190.5. I have gained 5 pounds since October 17th. Not too bad, but I think I have gained about 15 pounds since then! Sigh. The only night I didn't have an upset stomach was last night. I don't think my body knows how to process all of this rich food anymore! But, I go back to my trainer on January 2nd and tomorrow night after work, I am going to go do some cardio. Hopefully it helps!

How's everyone doing this week??I ended up doing quite well in the past week and over Christmas, so I'm mightily impressed with myself. From the day before Thanksgiving up to today's weigh-in, I lost 6 pounds! Now mind you the scale was through the ROOF right before Thanksgiving so I really had nowhere else to go but downwards unless my body wanted to start actually building MORE fat cells! :nono:
:boo:
...and I have 10-12 more pounds to go to get back to where I was just this past spring :disbelief: then another 25 pounds to go to get to my ultimate goal. So much for having a life AND losing weight, right???
