What were some things that nobody told you about the wedding planning experience and what were the things that you had to figure out and experience on your own?

How even though I never really dreamed of my wedding as a little girl I was going to become obsessed with planning.

No one told me that weddings were a magnet for drama. Even people and relationships who were normally totally drama-free became soaked with drama

By the end of the planning, about a month prior to the big day, that you won't care anymore....at all.

That there is no stress or drama in planning a wedding unless you allow it. You have the power to let everything roll right off your back. Like a duck. *quack*

This is true.

It is very lonely planning a wedding when you have no one to help you out along the way.

Most men don't care about planning a wedding, they just want to get drunk.

Enjoy every minute of your wedding day, cause it will be over in a flash.

Don't get stressed out with the small things. Life is too short.

You will upset people with some of things that you choose to do.

Its your wedding so what you want to do, not what you think other people want...like mothers mothers in law.....etc

that it is an addiction! After having helped planning one wedding, I couldn't wait to do another and another and another. There are so many wonderful resources out there and they just feed the addiction... like MLW!

I wish I had kept a journal for ideas.
I wish I had had the backbone to stand up for the things I wanted.... because I really didn't like how things turned out.

That those who tell you "make sure you do what you want and not listen to others" will be the first to tell you what to do.

After the wedding, any planning drama will seem like it never existed (at least for me), because the day was so great.

Professionals can't always be trusted to be "professional". No matter how much you are prepared to pay for "the best", check RECENT references before making your choice, don't go on reputation because things change.

Receiving items (video, album) will take longer than they say at the first meeting.

Amen to that, sister - it's been over 8 weeks and our photographer said we'd have the CDs and proof book in 2 weeks!!
