Looking back almost 3 years, we had your basic, run of the mill buffet. It was good, everyone liked it, but it definately wasn't memorable!
I think we had roast beef, chicken, assorted veggitables, salads, potatoes, etc. As I said, mine was basic.
Are you looking to have your dinner plated, or a buffet? I don't know what mostacolli is, but a quick google shows me that it would make an excellent side dish to beef or chicken. Are either of you Italian? You could make a whole theme out of your menu - chicken cacciatore, or a chicken and basil dish, or an Italian beef dish.

We had a plated dinner and one choice was chicken piccata and the other was filet mignon which had mashed potatoes and asparagus. We also had a side salad that came out first.

Vegetable tray would be good as an appetizer I think. We had meat and cheese trays, wings, and I don't remember what else, since I didn't get any!
We're having vegetable crudites as part of our hors d'oeuvres.
Appetizer is Italian Wedding soup.
Salad is a garden salad.
Entrees are:
Prime Rib with potatoes au gratin (cheesey potatoes) and mixed veggie medley
Chicken Valentin with penne pasta in pink vodka sauce and mix veggie medley.
The menu in its entirety is posted in my journal. :)

We are having three entrées because I want to have a wide variety and since it is not a kosher menu I want to make sure there is a fish
For Appetizers I am having
Mini veggie quiches
Chicken Teriacki Sticks
Pigs in Blankets
Potato Pancakes
Brie en Cruet-Not sure on spelling for this one it is Brie wrapped in puff pastry with a raspberry sauce.
For Salad I am having a mixed green salad which comes in a bowl of wrapped cucumber with shaved carrots, peppers and lettuce with a raspberry vinaigrette dressing.
Main courses are
Chicken Wellington
Fillet Mignon
Red Snapper
We are having a chocolate fountain for dessert.

We haven't fully decided on our menu. We have a tasting soon so it'll all be finalized. But we know our package.
During the cocktail hour we're having passed appetizers along with stations that will most likely include, vegetables with various dips, cheese with crackers and breads, and some more hot appetizers.
Dinner will include a salad, a formal appetizer, and 3 choices for the entree.
Dessert is the wedding cake, obviously, but we're adding in a Venetian table.
There's A LOT of food.
