How many places should you register at? How much stuff should you register for? Is there like a number of items per guest or anything?

I think you should register for at least two to three places.
As for how much....the size of the wedding will defiantly play a part, I think four gift choices per guest? Guests will appreciate options! Plus, your registries will be used for other parties as well...engagement parties, showers, even bachette parties. SO the number of these types of parties will also depend on how many per guest you choose, just having a shower? Then four is fine. Having lots of parties? You may want to register in stages...have a master list and add things to your registry as you receive gifts.
Don't forget to register for gift cards! Busy guests may opt for those instead of browsing in their price range.

We registered at 3 locations....we got just about everything we registered for at Target and BB&Beyond...the stuff we registered for at Crate and Barrel were just extras that we would've liked to have, and we did get a few items off that registry, but not much. I don't remember the exact number of items we registered for, but we tried to keep the cost of each item under $100. Obviously there were some bigger, more expensive items on the registries, but I wanted people to be able to afford stuff that we had picked out.

We registered at 3 places (Target, Linens 'N Things, Williams-Sonoma). We didn't register for a specific quantity of items, but we did register for items in a wide range of prices. Of course, we did throw in a $1600 flat screen TV, just for fun :giggle:

We registered at Target and Bed bath & Beyond, with more stuff at Target than BB&B. We made sure to have gift cards on each list as well.

We registered at Target & Bed Bath and Beyond. WE sent out about 150 invites and we registered for about 200 items. Most people didn' buy from it.

We registered at four places because I'm the worlds most indecisive person. The registry that was least used was Crate and Barrel, so in hindsight I probably should have just nixed that one. We got almost everything on our Bed Bath and Beyond registry and also on our Williams-Sonoma registry. Pottery Barn was here and there :)

I say at least 2 places so your guests have options, and definitely say you accept gift cards -- we got a ton of gift cards and they're great -- we haven't used them because we're waiting to buy a house and they don't expire. I think that if you're having a larger wedding, then three, and be mindful of your OOT guests when registering.

We registered at 3 places, Sears, Kohls and Bed Bath and Beyond. Out of the 3 BB&B has the best registry. We got some items we didn't register for and they gave us cash back. Kohls is pretty good, but you need to make sure you have a receipt and you only get store credit. Sears gives store credit with or w/o a receipt, but the registry is never updated.

We registered at one place but I think up to 2 places is ok. We didn't get much of our registry anyways, just a whole lot of money.....which was just fine with me.

We registered at 4 places.... Amazon, Target, Pfaltzgraff and a local kitchen store. In retrospect, I probably would have skipped Amazon... Only two people ordered from there. I wasn't really intending on registering at Pfatzgraff but that's where the dishes we liked were from and it was the only place we could register for that. Target just seemed to be the place that everyone was registering at.... and I used to work at the local kitchen store, so they kinda pressured me into doing it... and totally to my shock, that's where most people ended up buying from!

Register at, at least, one store where people can walk in and purchase gifts and one that has a great online registry. Some people like to get their gifts in person especially when they are going to your shower the next day. (Folks do procrastinate. :giggle: ) Register for inexpensive items but remember that some will go together to buy gifts. When they do that, they want to give you something big and memorable. Accomodate them by registering for a few bigger ticket items. Make sure that you have a good range of cost at every place you register.

We just registered at one store and everyone kept asking where else we were registered at so I wish we had registered somewhere else as well.
