At UW we had a couple of members who knew their etiquette. Are any of you here??

Chew with your mouth closed.

Put your napkin in your lap when you sit down at the table...

LOL! I only know very little but I have a book on it!

here's another piece of good advice...

DO NOT scratch any part of your body thats covered in clothes in public... if you HAVE to scratch, don't do it where I can see you :happysigh:

Do we really need "etiquette gurus"? I hate that there's some mysterious list of do's and don'ts. I think we're smart enough to figure out what works for us, don't ya think? ;)

Yeah Krissy I think we do have enough common sense between us that we can figure stuff out. But it's always good to have some one who really knows her stuff.

Do you mean ChefBride and JessJames? They were incredible with guidance. So is Celeste. She will be around here, I am sure. :)

Yes I agree but look where I live :jump4joy: I do not mind a guru or two helping out a few out there.

I'm here. I prefer the term Etiquette Geek. :) I own a bunch of etiquette books and default to them when needed. Common sense takes most people far enough, but for those who want to know what will offend great-aunt Hildy, I'm here for you.

I haven't seen the other hard-core etiquette heads here (JessJames, Angie70 and ChefBride). I know JessJames is on the etiquette hell forums, so I might head over there to see if I can find her.

Celeste! I missed you, you geek you!

For those of you who want a good laugh, the etiquette hell website is this:http://www.etiquettehell.com/content/eh_main/gen/eh_index.shtml

I figured I might find Queen Celeste, Etiquette Geek, over here :lol2: Good to see you here too :)

And I agree that we're all big girls (some of us bigger than others ) and can probably figure out most things ourselves...but it's awfully nice to get other people's opinions before offending "great-aunt Hildy"!

Do not think this is accurate anywhere but from the small southern town I am from it is of course not acceptable to put registry cards in the invite and they all must be addressed by hand!

What if it is one of those itches that doesn't go away and only gets worse?? I don't think I would get offended if someone scratched their leg and was wearing pants :dunno:

I have read my Emily Post Etiquette book several times, and refer to it on a regular basis. I'll be more than happy to help out, though sometimes I'm in the dark!
