So I was talking to my dad last time I was in town (he's a jeweler by the way) and he was talking about a client of his. She had sent her ring away to be resized because her fiance had bought the ring out of town and they wanted to use the same people to resize. When she got it back, she had a lesser quality diamond. So...either they lied to her about the quality of the diamond in the first place or they switched out the diamond and resold it. I thought that was terrible.

so...Just be careful with the jewelers you use. Make sure they are legit and won't screw you over.

Was the diamond visibly different then?

This is why I refuse to have my ring sized unless I can find a jeweler who comes to the store and does it while I watch. I might not have the most high quality diamond ( and it doesn't bother me) but it's mine, I'm sentimental about it and would be bummed if I lost it or someone took it.

My jeweler makes a little map of the little flaws inside my diamond, had me look through the little scope thing, sign the map, and then we check it again when we get it back.

This is what the Shane Co. did with us when we bought our wedding bands for them and they polished up my engagement ring.

Yup that's what our jeweler does too! Plus if you're stone is certified, it'll have a serial # laser inscribed on the gridle of the stone. Make sure to check that it matches up when you get it back!!

I was just shocked when he told me about that...I was like "how could anyone do that?" I mean how greedy can people be?

Yeah you won't believe the things some people will do to others. :(

I think almost every problem we face today would be non-existent if people would just learn not to be so damn greedy

I would probably take it to another jeweler for an appraisal, take photos, all angles, notarized
