I have no clue... I thought that FH did it when your dad gives you away or at the "kiss the bride" part... but I just heard that maybe your father does it when he gives you away... please set me straight :kimgrill:

Your father lifts it and kisses you then replaces it. The groom lifts it for the kiss.

so my father would lift it to kiss me then put it back over my face for the entire ceremony until FH lifts it for "you may kiss the bride"? :dontknow:

I have always seen the dad lift it and kiss you and then it stays back. And the reason I remember this so clearly is because whenever I watch "A wedding story" on TLC it always BUGS me that the dad never makes it completely smooth and there is always a weird bend in it that no one fixes.. :lol: I am anal like that though.

I believe the father lifts it when he "presents" the bride to the groom

I've seen it both ways....

It can be done either way---but for the bride's comfort, it's nice to let their dad do it since otherwise they're seeing their own ceremony from under a thin peice of fabric. I've also seen some of the most special exchanges between a father and daughter whem he lifts her veil. It's supposed to be symbolic of how her family has prepared her for marriage, but she is going into it under her own free will.

It's completely up to you as to when/who you want to do it: dad before the ceremony, husband after, or something else entirely.

Personally, I'll be lifting my own veil after I walk down the aisle. Nobody's walking me down, & I don't trust Squeezums to do it correctly. ;}

My father didn't walk me down the aisle (one of our groomsmen did) and my husband lifted my veil & kissed me at the request of the priest right after the Declaration of intent, right before readings. We had two kisses- that one and the one after we were pronounced husband & wife.

This was decided by my FH... he wants to lift the veil once we are announced husband and wife and get to kiss...he is the more traditionalist between the two of us and I think it will be sweet.

it all depends...the father can obviously when he lifts it to kiss you, just leave it like that, but obviously your FH wants to, so thats cool too.

I just put my veil on over my face and I look like I'm going to go rob a bank! :lol:

it can be done both ways. Traditionally the father does it when he give you away, but more and more the groom is doing it. It's whatever you prefer. I didn't want to mess with a veil covering my face so I didn't do it at all.
