My christmas eve proposal story..
James had moved here on Dec 09th, 2005 . He had moved out of his house and pretty much gotten everything out. He had decided to give it up to a ex girlfriend (many years past and just friends now) and her kids.
On Christmas Eve I had to work. James decided to go back to Coffeyville, KS (1 hr, 15 minute drive from Disney, Ok where we both live now) to finish cleaning out the house. Donna was anxious to move in.
I thought no big deal.. I have to work and he promised to be home so we could have dinner with my family that night and open one gift at their house, then later one at home.
After we did the dinner thing and opened one joke gift at my parents house. We went back to our place. I was working on unpacking the stuff he brought back with him.
Eventually he asked me I could stop so we could open one gift from each other.
I gave him the first gift.. He recieved a couch blanket with his name embrodiered on it. He loved it :)
I got the next gift.. He told me to sit on the couch and close my eyes and stick out my hand. (I had NO CLUE). He stuck something in my hand and told me to open my eyes. There was 46¢ and some lint. He laughed and said he thought he could do better than that. So once again I was instructed to close my eyes and stick out my hand. This time when I opened my eyes there was my engagement ring. He said I didn't have to say YES.. I said "I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you" .. He asked if that was a YES and I said YES .
He told me to call my mom cause he knew I was dying to tell someone :) My mom was NOT surprised :) She had a feeling it would happen soon :) My family was thrilled and so was his :)
I took the 46¢ he gave me and put in an envelope. I wrote a note on the outside why I was keeping it and put in my jewerly box for safe keeping.
