I always liked the look of the garland type of piece that runs the length of the table, this gives you many options, it can be simple yet make a bold statement or it can be more elaborate with highs and lows, rose petals running along the table with candles interspersed, fruits with flowers, I would practice a look for yourself, these are free form as well and you save a lot of money by doing it yourself. Plus it doesn;t have to be the same on every table, nor perfect. You can use fabric as well, a runner,

My friend is getting married in August and is using the same reception hall I did. Some of the tables are 6ft and some are round. We will be putting the 6ft tables together for large square tables. I need some ideas for centerpieces. She is into beige and greenery. Maybe something inexpensive using river rock? Probably no flowers and not the purple. Here is a pic of the tables to give you an idea. This was mine before the flowers and candles

Here are some pictures that I have gathered.

The cheapest place I've found river rocks is at the dollar store. 34 oz for $1! I saw a large bag at Garden Ridge for $6 but there was no weight on the bag.

Instead of doing the flower arrangements in this picture you could do the candles like in the river rock. I think it might even be cheaper to use them. I'm getting my roses through Sam's and it's coming out to about $.75 per rose. I get enough rose petals from 3 roses for a decent layer around my centerpieces on a 5' table. To get the same effect with river rocks, I'm thinking that I would have to use at least 3 bags.

And this is a duh statement but rocks are HEAVY. I bought 8 bags at the dollar store yesterday and I had a hard time carrying them in the house.

I was flirting with the idea of mixing black river rocks, rose petals and pillar candles but I decided to go another route.

The hall im having my reception and dance has the long tables, were still stuck on what to put on the tables so they dont look blank meaning empty and my colours are brown and pink...coffee beans came up,putting coffee beans inside a tall vase with a candle and i have my disposabile cameras going on there and favors.

I always thought that this was a sweet idea. It's beans with a single daisy-like flower.

What sort of look are you going for? When does the reception take place? Evening? Afternoon? Sit down dinner? Buffet? Appetizers? Do you have a budget?

Another place you could check out would be Hobby Lobby. I know sometimes they have their river rocks on sale for half off. :) hobbylobby.com
