I was surfing yesterday and came across these three pictures - does anyone happen to know where we can find this type of frame?? Or does anyone know what it might be called? I've searched for sand ceremony frame and sand ceremony shadow box - no luck :(

We were able to find the pics at ImageShack, I think it was? But no way to find who they belonged to.

I think it was shutterfly...but yeah, that's where the trail ends

Whatever. :p

And the pics were originally found at another forum. A user had posted them, but she, too...Had just 'found them'. They weren't her pics.

It could just be a shadow box. I would check out Michaels (or your local crafts store). Print out the pictures and ask if they have anything like it??

We've got a total of about 20 people (besides us) participating in our sand ceremony. ;) Sooooo, it wouldn't be difficult. Would just mean we'd have to save some water bottles instead of the small containers Kathy has now. LoL

I thought of that, but...Your typical shadow box doesn't have to have a seal at the bottom.

I'm wondering if this wasn't a custom job?

water bottles are no biggie... but you have to get all that different colored sand too

colouring sand is easy.. just use food colouring & dont make it too wet to start with.. the boxes are shadow boxes.. I showed the pix to a client who is a framer.. and thats what he said.

We have to do that, anyway. :) Once we get our ceremony written, we'll post it and it'll all make sense, then.

You can get them custom-made at Michael's. I've seen two premade ones (they're called shadowbox frames) there but I don't know if they were made by the store and then not used or if they carry it in all their stores. The bottom was solid and the little tag said it could be filled with sand or stones.

HelenAngel - THANK YOU!!! I will have to check that out, because I just LOVE the look of this frame....and the fact that we can use it and display it easily :D

That is so cool! We are doing a sand ceremony, I might have to find a frame like that.

You can also use liquid watercolors to dye the sand if you want more exact shades (says the former preschool teacher-- I've dyed a LOT of sand!)

I found this webpage about sand ceremonies. I also found the frame at Target for $12.99. I picked it up two nights ago.
