Wedding from the view of a bridesmaid's, IT WAS PERFECT.....

MY BROTHER'S PERFECT WEDDING!!! Flower disasters, sweaty balls, swollen feet and damaged shoes make for the perfect wedding!! as told by a bridesmaid....

Just before I start I did manage to throw my very first bachelor party...YES you heard it right my very first BACHELOR PARTY!!! My hubby got the place and the beer, I got the food (made it with mom), prizes, tickets, and THE GIRLS!!!! I got a call the thursday before that the person that was suppose to get the girls didnt get them. So I called couple places, and the guy that I got the girls from was laughing his behind off that the sister and THE BRIDE!!! were looking for the girls..,... WEll the party was such a hit (especially my girls lol) that my dads friend were asking how many more kids he has that didnt get married because they cant wait for the next party!!!

THURSDAY 6/5-


I only went to work till 12pm as I knew that the flowers were coming in, and we needed to make the centerpieces and bridesmaids flowers. After work I went to get my little sister and we headed over to my brothers house. I talked to my brother earlier and knew that the flowers they ordered were in. I also knew that they were a LOT bigger than we expected. The week before they ordered sample mini calla lilies and when they came it they were just too small for what they wanted. And because it was too late to order another sample they decided to just go with the MEDIUM calla lilies as that should be the perfect size. Well I got to their house and well the stems were as big as the opening in the vase that they were going to use. We tried cutting them different way but they were not fitting. We were suppose to do 3 lilies per vase plus some grass and leaves. Also not all the place cards were printed. The bride had to go to the church and finish other things, she was flipping out so I took my sis and we drove to a store to buy new vases hoping that we can find something tall, wider but not to wide. We ended up finding just the "perfect" vases, each was a little different but really that was the only thing that we could find that would fit our plans without having to change them. Off back home we went. The bride was not back yet and neither was the groom. So my sister and I together with the mother and father of the bride decided to start on the centerpieces. Thank god they flowers some what fit and we just had to make a use of it. Well next problem came up. They didnt plan on using the leaves that the ordered with the sample or anything so we had nothing to fill the vases with and the lilies alone were just blahhhh. So outside we go to try to find the perfect leaves. No luck. But we did find something that may have work and when the bride saw it she said that they had some at the store and she will go and get it. So we started on the centerpieces then went into the BM b-ks and got that done. It all turned out great. So we all headed home to change for the rehearsal that was starting in about 1 hr. I went home, took a shower and got dressed. The rehearsal was very uneventful. After we went out to dinner at a restaurant, the food was good, and than we headed home as we knew that Friday will be eventful with all the decorating and last minute detail. Little did we know..........


FRIDAY 6/6

The day came quickly. I got up and gt my husband off to work. Then got dressed ate breakfast etc. We were planning on starting the decorating at 12 but I wanted to be at the house by 10:30 because we had to finish some last things. But I decided to go tanning go to the dollar store and bank before that. Well the tanning place was not opened till 10:30 and the bank till 10 (which it was almost 10) so I went to the bank first and than drove to the dollar store. I figured I can tan later on. Got all my stuff at the dollar store and went to the house. I was there by 11am, ready to rock and roll.... It was pouring out too. We went into the house (my mom and sis got there at the same time), the bride and groom went out to get last min things. The mom of the bride was sitting down trying to figure out how to attach the ribbon to the little vodkas. The bride wanted it weird way and there was no way to make it stay. SO my mom figured it out but then the bride came in she didnt like it much and said to leave it alone and she will do it later. But we showed her how to use some little hearts and tie it like a mans tie. She liked it and said for us to finish it, but the problem was there were not enough hearts so she said she will run to a store and get some and get paper to finish the place cards. She will try to do it before her hair trial so we could finish it up and get to the reception site. Well she didnt make it and we would have to wait for about and hr so we decided to pack up what we had and head over to the reception. She got home and still no hearts so we told her to just go get what she needs and meet us the the reception. So we had over to the reception where my brother is already unloading the alcohol and than going to his house to get the centerpieces. We do all the decorating, put up the chair covers, finish off the favors(she made it with the hearts) and at 4 we are done and on our way home.... I mean my mom and sis are on their way home I am on my way home to my bros house. We get there, eat, and my brother goes to reprint the missing/wrong place cards, well he does it wrong again and waists 2 sheets. (she got 2 just in case) so he said he will figure it out later. We still had to do flowers for the church. She did purchase couple vases that were perfect so off we go to make beautiful arrangements (I AM TELLING YOU I SHOULD BE A FLORIST/WEDDING PLANNER ETC) THe flowers came out great.

So after 6pm we head over to the florist that was doing the boutneers and the brides b-k... SHe was suppose to have them ready so that we could see them. We walk in and the girl that works there (not the owner) said they are not ready.. They were suppose to be ready by 6pm and she didnt even start yet. So My SIL said can I see the calla lilies (she wanted RED), and the girls showes us the PURPLE lilies in the frige. Our eyes about to pop out of our heads, so she called the owner and the owner assured us that they will be RED and beautiful no worries. OK so we left thinking it will all be ok... WERE WE SO VERY WRONG!!!!

After we left the flower shop we went to see the park that we were suppose to have pictures done at. The photographer said to look around as he wanted to take up around the lake and take pictures there. SO we parked the car, and walked by the waterfall and started to walk around the park. Well it turned out that there were a lot of little "presents" left by the duckies all over the place, the side walks the grass everything. So the only good place was by the waterfall (which next day we found out that this was the only option as there was a birthday party in the park) We still had to make a stop at my parents to get some pictures and off we went to get manis and pedis (SIL treat). We got to the place at 7pm which was the time they closed. But the lady opened the salon just for us when we told her that my SIL is getting married. SO 4 people stayed and pampered us!! IT was soo nice and much needed. SO While we were finishing my SIL asked me to call the florist back (she was suppose to be there till 9pm) and ask the final price so that I could pay it the next day when I pick up the flowers. She knew about how much she was going to pay but she made few minor changes so wanted to make sure. (there was no contract or anything) SO we call and the girl is telling us that it will be over $160 more than what they agreed to. They tried to increase all the prices and the b-k for the flower girl was just as expensive as the brides. We told her no this was suppose to be a very small b-k. So she tells us to come down and look at what she did. So we finish up and off we go back to the florist. We walk in and the flowergirl's b-k is just as big and heavy as the brides. It was suppose to be a small tiny b-k for 11 year old.! So we tell her to change that because the kid wont be able to carry that big thing. Next we look into the boutonneres. We were suppose to have red calla lily for the groom with the ends in silver and it was wrapped in GOLD!!! The GM were suppose to all have white calla lilies wrapped in silver. WELL I Dont know what kind of flowers there were but they were not on our list of wedding flowers. (ok so maybe not the mothers and fathers were suppose to have them but that is it- long story short my mom's sister passed away month ago and lilies remind her of that so she didnt want to have lilies in the wedding but since it was not her choice she asked that her corsage didnt have lilies) SO all the guys had the wrong flowers!! Next the ring bearer. He Had and ORCHID!!! I am not sure where they got that flower from but there was totally no orchides in the order. It was suppose to be a rose! Lilies and ROSE that is it!!! So we made her change all that paid for the flowers and left. The min we started driving she calls us to tell us she does not have white lilies can she do Red ones or roses instead. So we went for the red ones. Confirmed everything and told her I will pick it all up at 9:30 the next morning. Of we go home, I got home at 10pm watched a movie and went to sleep.



6/7 SATURDAY-THE BIG DAY!!!!

I woke up around 8 am, took a shower and drove to my brother's to drop off few things for my cousin to pick up so his wife could decorate the church. Went back home, got everything ready and left to pick up the flowers, drop my car and few last min things (like the place cards and picture frame) at the reception. I get to the florist and quickly look at the flowers-they look great- get them in my car and drive the 5 min to the reception site, run in drop off what I need, meet with my brother, dad, SIL father and one of the GM , transfer my things into my dad's car and hand the bride's b-k to her father since we are dropping him off at where she is getting dressed. We all get into the car and start driving. I look over to my side (I was sittin in the back with brides Father and the GM) and look at the flowers that they are holding!:eeek: :jawdrop: :faint: :shocked: and than :hissyfit: :banghead::tempertantrum: :rollpin: :ohreally:

.....I asked SIL father to look at the flowers too. And when he saw them he was also :jawdrop::eeek::wow2::shock::eek: And than my brother and my father looked at them. and went :faint::jawdrop::wow2::bag::shocked::speechless: :speechless: and than we all went :hissyfit::protest::holdbreath::hopmad::troll:

Than I looked at the flower girl b-k and the bouts that I was holding on to and the same thing! The paint on the calla lilies was peeling right off and it was all over our cloths and the car. THe purple flower was showing right through and we realized that the roses were already starting to turn brown, which was not the biggest problem. We were in shock. The bride really wanted red calies and now the red would be all over the wedding dress. So I got on my cell phone and called the flower shop and just went off on the lady. I told her that we need new flowers and she said to contact the owner. SO I called the owner of course no answer. I called her back and my dad (who was driving) took the phone from me and told her that she better have new flowers (all flowers) ready by 12:30 or on Monday she will not have a business. The lady said that she cant do much without talking to the owner. My dad said he dont care the flowers better be ready. SO we drop of the bride's father and tell him to tell the bride that I will bring the flowers with me when I get there. And not to tell her about the problem. We drive to my parents house (where I was suppose to just get in the car with my sis, get our stuff and leave to get ready where the bride is getting ready. Still no hair or make up done for neither of us and we are suppose to go to a store pick something else up) My mom sees the flowers and flips. We all grab something and start peeling the paint off. We figured out that putting the flowers under water gets the paint off. And since our options at this point were: 1) red paint all over everyone/but with dream "red"calies or 2) purple calies and no paint on everyone plus no peeling paint on the flowers in the pictures (cause they would just keep on peeling) we chose option number 2. So off we are waisting time since we didnt know if the florist will get the flowers done or not still no call from her we are all peeling away. Finally at almost 11 she calls us to tell us the flowers are ready and she just put "pink" as in the purple lilies in the b-k. My mom, looking at how ugly the b-k was with the "pink" lilies just told her to make roses only b-k. SO at this point I have to leave with my sister to get ready bacuse the photographer is coming in 1 hr and we still need to drive there and get ready, stop at the store etc. SO Finally we get to the place at 11:30 and start getting ready. THe bride Flips out when she sees her purple lilies!! (we took the b-k so she could take some pics at home with it since we can photo shop that later) She is almost crying as I explain to her what happened. I though she was going to cancel the wedding. So Off we go to get ready and of course my hair style that I want is not coming out, the photographer is already there, every one is ready except for my sister and I . SO I just put gel in my hair and scrunched it up and pulled the front up and pinned it up. I had no time to try anything else as they were calling us up for pics. So we finish getting dressed and go outside. IT IS SOOO HOT!!!!! It was unbelievable. Right away we all start to sweat sooo much! But we take some pics, I feel very not comfy because I didnt get to get ready the way I should have, everyone looks so pretty with the hair and makeup done, everyone is relaxed but I am stressing (like I have been for the 2 weeks before the wedding). But what ever, I guess I will not look good for my brother's wedding.

I call my dad who picked up the flowers (the florist is right next to the church so when they got to the church they just went to pick them up) and ask how they are. He said becautiful. I make sure that they have enough for all the guys too and that they have the flower girl b-k. They dont have that one b-k so off my dad goes back to get that done too. So the limo comes and we all drive to the church.

We get to the church and the flowers are waiting. They did a good job this time around but without the calies which of course they paid for. But of well.

Off to get married. The ceremony was beautiful! Long but very beautiful. After the ceremony we go outside and are standing in a hot sun beacause of the reciving line (which was not planned) and than we get some pics and off we get in a car and have to drive to the reception site to get some food for us while we are taking pictures, than to my parents to take the cooler with ice and drinks (THANK GOD WE THOUGHT OF ALL THAT) and off to the park we go. We get to the park and the weather is like over 100f and just hot and sticky. No one wants to take pics! I mean we all do but we just could not wait to get out of that park. In between pics everyone tried cooling down. I pulled my dress up a bit (it was long dress) to cool down and when they called me to take pics I could not bring it back down. I was so wet that it got stuck. I mean I was never this wet and hot in my entire life. It was just nasty. The dress was soaked , and that was everyone. The we realize that my cousin's shoe is damaged and about to fall apart (rental) so we leave and drive to his house so that he could change it. Than we get to the reception where everyone is freaking out, because thye are wating on me cause i need to bustle the dress. So I get what I need (had to find people to open the cars) and we get ready and are introduced. At this time my Feet ARE SWOLLEN!!! And I mean SWOLLEN, I never had my feet swollen before but because of the high heels, and hot weather my feet just gave in. So I cant wait to sit down. So the first dance is on and we can finally go to our tables. Was that a relief. I go get my change of shoes but at this point that didnt help. The dinner is served and it was very good.

After dinner dancing begins. They do the usual dances and than more food. Everyone had a blast and dance so much. I wish my feet didnt hurt as much cause I really wanted to dance more. By the end of the night I was getting upset cause I still didnt have a chance to dance with my brother. But I Finally got a chance to dance with him. Everything turned out just perfect. The ceremony was perfect, the recception was perfect, and a lot of fun!! I did end up sending my brother and his bride to a park at sunset to take more pictures (which my brother was pissed about but now he thanks me casue it was not as hot anymore and they got the most beautiful pictures out of it)......

But it was such a unique wedding......And I hope that my brother will be as happy his entire life as he was on his wedding day!.....

The bachelor party thing amuses me!

I'm sorry you had the flower issues, at least they got worked out.

It was hot on our wedding day too, but not that hot. Hopefully the pics were worth it!

Yeah the flower thing pissed everyone off. But now it is a funny story to tell. Yeah it was soo hot, my wedding day was hot too but it was not that humid and well everyone enjoyed being outside. But the pics came out great so that is important...
