A good friend of mine is the managing director of a local non-profit (check it out here (http://jacksongraves.org/) if you're interested). They have an event coming up this weekend and she sent the following email:

I just found out that we cannot use glass in our centerpieces for Red, White & Baby Blue (we were borrowing vases from the heart association and using gerber daisies in them). Soooo...I'm looking for some creative ideas that can be done very quickly (event is in 2 days and I have about 800 things on my to do list), look nice, and be inexpensive.

Any ideas? I did get some silver buckets at walmart today, but they are small and I'm just not feeling them. We are trying to make the event slightly more upscale than in the past and the buckets just don't seem to convey that message. They were an idea from one of our volunteers. If you have any ideas on how to make them work, let me know! We have 4 large round tables with white table cloths and 6 cocktail tables with red table cloths.

Does anyone have suggestions for her? TIA!

do we know why they can't use glass?

i was thinking that if they're set on using gerber daisies, she could return the buckets and get some nice, durable plastic vases.
i'm also picturing candles...
