What would you compromise?

I think I'd compromise in carat seeing as I don't really like large diamonds anyway.

I voted for carat. I'd rather have a good quality diamond. Plus I have small fingers so anything above 3/4 of a carat doesn't look right. Guess that's good news for DH's bank account! :lol:

carat I guess my engagement ring didnt have a stone in it but I have tiny fingers so I knew a huge rock on it would look strange.

Carat definately. I would rather have an almost flawless small diamond than a huge diamond with major inclusions in it.

I would only sacrifice color. Size matters! :) And clarity you can't skimp on. But considering I'm a bride with a 1.3 carat black diamond, I guess I would only be willing to budge on color.

Doesn't really matter. . . I'm not fond of diamonds to begin with. I'd much rather have tanzanite. Or aquamarine. Or another sapphire.

Well, you didn't give me an option for "all of the above," so I didn't vote. :p I'm really not much on diamonds. While my band does have some small diamonds, I would never want one for the main stone. I wouldn't give up my topaz for anything. :)

i picked none of the above because of FH, he is so picky and fussy about stuff like that everything has to be perfect (my jewerly told me that I am a lucky woman to have a fussy guy like that......lol) but i would probably (if I alone was buying something without his opinion) sacrifice on carat because one small good diamond looks a million times better than a big crappy diamond

I knew a girl who had a HUGE piece of bling compared to my .27 center stone. But it had a huge surface flaw, and the color was off. (mine's an F, and a VSI).

If you're going to spend that much money on bling, make it NICE looking bling!

If I had to choose, it'll definitely be the carat size of the diamond. What's the use of wanting a huge stone if the clarity isn't great. JMHO. :)

I wouldn't compromise if I didn't have to, but if I did it would be on the cut :) I love my round but there are a few others that I've seen that are gorgeous :)

And I agree about the smaller rings that are better quality looking 150% better than bigger diamonds that are cloudy, etc. I'd rather have a chip that looked good than a 5 carat cloud.
