Hello, my name is Helen (though I go by HelenAngel pretty much everywhere). I was married on 12/17/05 after a whirlwind 7 month engagement. My husband and I were best friends in high school and despite life's twists and turns somehow ended up together! :)

My wedding was very heavily do-it-yourself, and by trial and error. Because I was working full time at a very demanding job AND planning a wedding by myself (for everyone but us, it was a destination wedding!) AND being a single mom, I didn't have time to be active in message boards. But now that I'm a WAHM doing graphic design, I finally have time to help other brides with their planning. :wiggle:

I was on UW, too, so some of you may have known me from there. :)

Welcome, Helen! My husband's and my dating anniversary is on 12/17, so I like the date you chose for your wedding :lol:. We also had a heavily diy wedding too, I loved doing lots of things for the wedding!

And I'd love to have your job :lol:.

:welcome2: Helen!! I LOVE your job...how did you get into that? That's what I'm trying to get into myself! FH and I are also doing pretty much everything for the wedding ourselves, so hopefully we can share ideas!! Welcome to the boards!!

I had been doing graphic art & graphic design/webdesign since the late 90s. Around 2003 I started studying more complex graphic art under my friend who is a somewhat famous graphic artist in The Netherlands. I just started doing things and building up a portfolio. Currently my only client is my husband but I get others through him. He just tells me what to make and he takes care of the business end of it. :)

I'd love to share ideas- heck, I can even make some stuff for you for free if you want. I started a wedding wiki (http://www.applebride.com) (it's just like Wikipedia only it's specific to wedding stuff- like an encyclopedia) to help brides through step-by-step do-it-yourself projects. Some friends and I try to put up articles regularily but anyone can add to it.
